I have an excellent "acoustic" reveal for this effect. Fleur-de-Lis my choice. |

That's correct, the drop down box choice triggers the corresponding image in the window.
This has been one busy day to say the least! Thanks again for the huge support! If your order number is higher than LC1502 then I'm afraid you didn't make the special offer in time (LC1502 being the 20th order). The manual will also be emailed out on the launch day. Darkly Dan |

Thanks for that update, Dan. Looks like I barely made it in. Whew! I thought I must have been one of the first, but things must be selling very briskly over there--congrats!

I was almost taken by the Fleur-de-Lis too. The 'window' in the center reminded me of the mechanical porthole on the Nautilus.
At the final moment I decided that the 'Secret Garden' had a very creepy juxtaposition with darker topics. The butterfly has a grace and femininity, but speaks of change. Ascension. Perhaps it belonged to a celebrated spirit medium? Also, it could easily take us to the Realm of Faerie. They're all fantastic designs. Very much looking forward to this one AND the incredible surge of creativity when we all start putting them through the paces.

Glad you all like the look of Oculus!
It's been on my to do list for ages but I didn't have a good excuse for putting a hole in a bookmark until I discovered Bibliomancy, then it all fitted into place! You have a great tale to tell and also a wonderfully simple effect to perform - it's the essence of bizarre. The great thing about the glass oculus is that it gives you some freedom over the performance. You show the spectators during your demonstration that the oculus magnifies a word as you move it around the page. You can even let them have a try so they can see the words of the page moving though the oculus. When the moment comes to force your word they don't see anything unusual, just another word on the page. As the oculus slightly distorts the word you have some freedom over the book font, it doesn't have to be a perfect match, just similar. Also as the oculus magnifies the word, the need to align the word with the lines of text in the book is not required, as long as the word is parallel with the rest it will look part of the page. One issue with The Ring of Truth is that you had to peek to ensure the text in the ring aligned with the text on the page, this is no longer the case. Forcing 2 words is the simplest, 3 or 4 is not really that much harder. Depending on your chosen font size you may even get away with a 5 or 6 word force! It's a bit like the thumb tip of bizarre, you'll recieve your package and think 'really?' as its that simple. The original design was more complex than the final one you see on the site, it was thicker, needed magnets to operate etc - that has all been stripped away to pure simplicity. The demand has far exceeded expectation! With all this leather in the studio it smells like a fetish club! I will try and post a short demo on the site later today so you can see one in the flesh. There will also be a number of limited edition Conan Doyle copies of Oculus only available to backers in the forthcoming Kickstarter - covering fairies, spiritualism and of course Holmes....

Hello, what a great prop !
Just for you to know, in French we write "Fleur de Lys" and not "Fleur de Lis". Maybe you wrote that on purpose. If not, here is the right spelling ! |

A French term, to be sure, but Fleur de Lis is the 'correct' English variant--corrupted over time since the 1066 invasion when, beginning in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, the 'y' was regularly replaced by 'i' in many English words (wyrd to weird, for example) in a misbegotten attempt to 'modernize' from the Anglo-Saxon.
Fleur de Lys is technically correct, therefore, but Fleur de Lis is the regularly accepted English variant. BC
