I have a silk through mirror prop, bought second hand. I like it, but some of the mirror has a bit of wear, and I worry that this mark might give the secret away during the crucial moment. I don't think there are scratches so I hope that I can fix it with some sort of cleaning.

I've tried to wipe it off, but that didn't seem to work.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Have you tried soap and water or a none ammonia glass cleaner?

If that does not remove whatever you talking about, then try the white paste for cleaning CDs may work. It is a plastic mirror correct?

Being you cannot describe it so we can understand, posting a photo of the smear would help. Go the bottom of the page and read the requirements to attach a photo.

Bill's comments are spot on; if you do not have CD cleaner, white toothpaste can also be used. BE CAREFUL because scratches will definitely create problems.

You might try windshield cleaner for boats. There are several brands, and most of them are very effective and gentle on plexiglass and Lexan. A Google search will turn up a list, along with reviews of the various products. I would try it on a small area first, though, before going all-out.

You might go to tap plastics and see if you can get a replacement mirror.
