Hey,

I've got a (slighlty soft) TT that's almost the right size, but it's a tad too narrow, and I can't put my thumb in it because of the air pocket it creates. I'd like to enlarge it by 1mm or 2mm. Do you know any way to do that? Hair dryer? boiling water? Force a larger TT in it for a week?

Cheers,

P!

Ado - Is it a classic style thumb tip or is it a vinyl tip? If it's a classic plastic one, I think trying one of the options you mentioned could work, but it may be worth looking into buying a thumb tip of a larger size as trying to modify the size could result in warping or other issues.

Hope that helps -
Tom

Who told you the TT is suppose to fit all the way on your thumb? That is a false belief. What are you going to do when the TT is loaded? The reason it is called a TT is because it fits on the tip of the thumb. Soft TT cannot be adjusted like the hard Vernet versions. Really only 1mm, that is hardly a reason to worry about, but if you really want to, and you have already stated it is an air pocket, simply poke a hole in the tip. That will let the air escape.

Bill, I'm not trying to put my whole thumb in it, just about my first joint. However, it covers the nail, but doesn't go to the knuckle without scarping my skin off the thumb. Bigger sizes were way too big (they would just fall of the thumb. That's how big)., that's why I want to enlarge this smaller one. It's just short of being the right size...

Wouldn't it be easier to get one that's "too big" and make it fit better?

Try sticking a piece of rubber "drawer liner" (aka "shelf liner") to the inside of the big one.

Of course you know a loose TT is better than a tight one.
