“Resident Magician @ San Francisco’s The Magic Cellar of Earthquake McGoon’s”
British born, Martin Lewis is a third generation magician, who has entertained audiences all over the world for the past 25 years. Arriving in San Francisco in 1972, Martin got his start as resident magician at The Magic Cellar of Earthquake McGoon's (The Magic Castle of the Bay Area). Television work and world travel soon followed, culminating in his being awarded "Visiting Magician of the Year," multiple "Parlor Magician of the Year," and "Lecturer of the Year" by the Academy of Magical Arts for his performances at the prestigious Magic Castle in Los Angeles. Martin has continued to maintain a quality of excellence which has enabled him to establish an impressive list of accomplishments such as a magician, teacher, entertainer, inventor, lecturer and consultant. He is the creator of some effects used by today’s top professionals such as “Signature Sketchpad Card Rise” used by David Copperfield and “Sidewalk Shuffle” used by Fred Kaps. In order to broaden his scope and appeal even further, Martin starred in the short length Cannes film “Who Are You and What Do You Think.” Martin has been opening acts for such celebrities as: Debbie Reynolds, Robin Williams, Ricky Nelson, Harry Anderson and Helen Reddy.
Martin’s new lecture is about original ideas in magic. He will teach items for stage, close-up, and parlor. His emphasis is on strong effects, using simple methods and entertaining presentations.
