Thanks tomsk192
My post might have read very negatively. The trick itself is good, but the overall production development could have benefitted from another month. Everything about the production feels rushed. I hear Jon was literally boxing these things up the night before in order to ensure he had them to sell at Blackpool.

The exposure will help when the finished product is ready for a release to the general magic public as well. Jon posted on his FB he'll upload a live demo - he shot it over the weekend - tomorrow. |

Not counting a playing card I did all the necessary apart from the clean up with one item which everyone will have. I agree that it would be nice to see a couple of full routines but apart from that the dvd covers all that is necessary. It would have been nice to see the item in the real packaging especially as it's such a good trick but I know if it was mine and I had the chance to sell to 4000 magicians in some temp packaging I know what I would do and I suspect most other people would do the same. |

Yes, most magicians should have the 'accessories', but I suspect not all.
I thought it was a bit stingy not to supply the little something for the clean up. Also to say to make more gimmicks from TCs rather than just supplying a few more of the 'somethings' was also a bit mean. After all, you get a few with Mystery Solved to make a variety of gimmicks and I thought Jon would have looked to equal or better that

Hi Guys,
Just returned from Blackpool. Nice to have decent wifi again! There are comments and views about Paragon all over the Internet! I can't reply to everything but I happy to do so honestly on this thread. Jamie, I do credit ADC in the credits. If you select 'Play All' you will see them at the end. I actually called him to ask for his permission. Some people have said there was no need as it is not the same but I was happy to credit him as without him, I may well not have created Paragon. Yes, the video is fairly basic but I would hope people think it covers pretty much everything they need to perform Paragon. Was it rushed? Yes it was a rush to get it ready. Everyone involved was working flat out to get it ready for Blackpool. I spent 2 hours up in Blackpool getting the gimmicks sorted for use with Paragon. I spent over 4 hours packaging everything up while I was there. Luckily, I had a few friends who volunteered their time to help me on the stand. Yes, I was packaging some of them on the stand as well as during a couple of gala shows (in my room; not the theatre!) There was the stock to get it ready but not to have any additional gimmicks. Jamie, I'll look at costs of these and the extra item to clean up and see about adding them now I have time to look into them. To be honest, any half-decent performer can easily clean up in a way they feel comfortable with during a performance for laymen! If you can't generate an off-beat moment after cleanly showing the card has coming from the box the fairly and theatrically showing it is the signed card then something other than paragon needs work. The instructions would need a total overhaul.... so thanks for the potential extra work! With regards a live performance, there is no need for one. What would you want to see from a live performance that you are not seeing in the studio performance? I'm not selling a routine with a selection process, card force, equivoque, or anything else where the way the laymen is integral to the routine is necessary to see so you can watch how it plays. Michael Weber made a very good point in that I have taken an effect that was getting reliant on the prop and given it back to the magician. If anyone feels genuinely cheated and conned having bought Paragon at Blackpool, email me your concerns (using your real name would be nice) and I'll refund you your money. Fairy enough? Regards, Jon

I was likening Jon to an heroic soldier of a bygone era, holding his nerve until the last minute, ensuring he fully loads his weapon even as the enemy come on to him.

Jon,
What was the final count of those who asked you to demo paragon during Blackpool? |

And still no video. I'm beginning to think that Jon is just a tease, through and through. We'll never feast our eyes on his box at this rate, and you can lay to that.
Wayne had someone else play with his box on YouTube, and David showed us his box in an iconic location. I realise the big news is that Paragon is basically Jon finger flicking Wayne's box, but we'd all like to see a live video. Why so shy, Jon? |

Jon,
Looks great! Hoping to see a full demo, but I appreciate you taking the time to shoot an unedited demo. Looking forward to Paragon. Michael New York

Alex, I hope you aren't being rude, young man. Something about this thread seems to generate innuendo, I can't for the life of me see why that should be.
Anyway, Jon has thoroughly satisfied us with this ten second climax, after building up almost unbearable anticipation. This thread was all about the build up; let's move over here to discuss it further. Tommy Skoops "Relaxing with a cigarette, his work here is done..." |
