Here is the challenge guys. Do you know any tricks using normal playing cards where all you need to know is a double lift? Come, put your brains to the test.

"Twins" from the ETMCM series. I perform this every time I open a deck of cards and it gets great reactions. Whenever I am doing card tricks they always ask me to do the one with the story of the twins. Learn it and you will have a great piece of magic with a great presentation. It will take practice to get the knack of doing a double between two cards but it is well worth the time. Have fun.

Yeaps... There is one taught in Card College #2. It is actually a reverse that uses a double lift.
Don't remember the name of the trick. |

Skinner's "Mona Lisa Card Trick" is a beaut (just a simple transformation, but the presentation is brilliant).

Color Monte. But instead of using the cards provided use a joker, a red queen, and the final $14 card.

Well, I say a great trick with merely multiple lifts called "Ambitious Classic."

Two-card Monte -- aka Tell The Truth, What Is It-- is a strong effect using only double lifts.

I have a nice two card transposition out there, though to perform it ... really helps to have a false cut. It's called 'Now!'
Also the 'vacuum cleaner card' using the card box. Also my first trick, the two card transpo using the card-case where one of the cards does a 'costume change.' While these tricks do stand use in a routine, they are not the only tricks I would consider. Honestly there is something frightening about the concept of limiting oneself in methods. Not even a Gemini count which pretty much a counting procedure using a DL get ready... wow... that is ... actually sad. You are on your own. And your DL better be PERFECT if you expect such a one-note routine to work.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Paul Wilson's Gypsy Monte can be done with normal cards instead of Tarot cards - great effect.

I love Hamman's Twins. I love Color Monte. Dr. Daley's Last Trick is of course a classic.
However, about a year ago my friend Steve Friedberg reminded me of what imho is the best of all packet tricks meeting your criteria (thanks again, Steve). It is another of J.K. Hartman's effects, "Over and Over," which is found in his "Means and Ends" booklet. The effect is almost exactly like Vernon's "Twisting the Aces," but I think quite a lot easier, less .... hmmm .... "affected" handling, and for me, anyway, a whole lot easier. Plus it has an added kicker at the end. The reaction is hugely disproportionate to the effort. Easy, easy, easy to do; baffling to the spectator. It's one of those that will fool you while you are learning it. Heck, it fools me when I'm performing it. Actually, come to think of it, there are no double LIFTS involved, although there are a whole lot of doubles. So forget it, don't learn this one. Never mind. Phil |

Yeah Brother John Hamman had lots of packet tricks involving non-gaffs.
The Pinochle trick comes to mind, as well as the one about the redheaded queens, boyfriends, etc (can't recall the exact name). He uses other stuff like a Gemini count, but it has double lifts too.
