Two former foreign secretaries have been secretly filmed apparently offering their services to a private company for thousands of pounds.
It is claimed that Mr Straw was recorded describing how he operated "under the radar" and had used his influence to change EU rules on behalf of a firm which paid him £60,000 a year. On the subject of payment, Mr Straw is heard saying: "So normally, if I'm doing a speech or something, it's £5,000 a day, that's what I charge." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31580374 Nudge Nudge

I always find it enlightening to take a look at politics on the local level. It's always fascinating. I remember once about thirty-five ago, I was sitting in a bar, and a guy comes over to me, pretty darn drunk, and starts talking about how he just spent the last three hours in a town zoning meeting, and that was it, the whites were going to live here, and the blacks were going to live there, and he was going to make lots of money in real estate because of it, and there wasn't anything anyone could do about it. This was in Brooklyn.
Then, about ten years ago, upstate New York, I was doing my laundry in the only laundromat in town, and there are two guys talking about how the principal of the only high school in the area is the brother of the mayor and there were all sorts of contracts being thrown his way. Football uniforms, lunch money and so on. My point is this. everyone knows that politics on the local level is rife with corruption. We don't get too surprised or shocked. But move on up to the national level and everyone all of a sudden is a gentleman and a scholar. Nuh-uh. They're the worst of the worst. They've learned their trade so well, they got to move up to the big leagues. The stuff in that article is the cost of doing business in a country. Corruption isn't the exception, it's the rule. It just sometimes seems it's less on the federal level because they have the power to pass laws from time to time that re-label corruption as legal.

Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, commonly referred to as the Foreign Secretary, is a senior member of Her Majesty's Government heading the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and regarded as one of the Great Offices of State.
The Secretary of State's remit includes: relations with foreign countries, matters pertaining to the Commonwealth of Nations and the overseas territories in addition to the promotion of British interests abroad. One the other hand on a local level one of them knocked on our door once.

Wouldn't it be great if our local and national elections enabled ANYONE over the age of 21,let's say, to be voted for office.
That way people are more likely to vote for servants of the community rather than enslavers of the community. Kam

And by the way, tommy, at this point we are only "two alleged crooks", not "two crooks".
Libel is not a pretty thing. You may be hearing from my barristers soon, the firm of Palin, Cleese, Chapman, Idle, Gilliam and Jones.

The Crook Sir Malcolm Rifkind has today stepped down as British security committee chairman and as an MP but I am not sure if Sir Malcolm is still Co-Vice Chair of the Global Panel Foundation - America - with Dr. Dov S. Zakheim, the former U.S Under-Secretary of Defense and Comptroller of the Armed Forces or not.
In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, he said while he would remain a member of the committee, he would step down from the chairmanship. The committee is due to publish a report next month looking at surveillance by the intelligence agencies, and Sir Malcolm said he had decided "it is better that this important work should be presided over by a new chairman". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31603202
