Do you use it right out of the box, or do you rearrange the order?

If by right out of the box you mean that your visual cues come not only from the "paired" card but also from the pairs around the selection I believe that arrangement is the most comfortable to the majority of users.

I arrange mine in order of natural pairs. So, for example, Ace of hearts with Ace of diamonds. It is then arranged by odd or even. It makes it so easy to find what you are looking for, and no one notices the arrangement. I learned this from one of the top pro magicians. Why complicate your life if it is not necessary?

My original ID was arranged so that pairs sum up 13 (I prefer this).
I have seen other IDs arranged with odd (faces-up) and even (backs-up) or vice versa; but my experience (mainly with mathematicians in the audience) is that this even-odd feature is *extremely* obvious for certain spectators.
So much to do, so little time . . .
