As much card work as I do I should know the answer to my question, but what is the effect/principle of the invisible deck? I see it mentioned a lot but I don't know much of anything about it.

A spectator names any card. The magician fans through the deck showing that theirs is the only one face down.
OR The magician removes an invisible deck and shuffles it. The spectator takes it and shuffles it and turns one card over. The deck is placed back into the case. The spectator names the card he turned over. The magician brings out the real (actual) deck of cards and fans through showing that the only card face down is the audience's card. |

In my opinion this is one of the strongest effects out there. David Blaine performed this on his Street Magic special.

And after Blaine performed it, his spec said what Blaine knows is worth a million dollars! We should all be so lucky!

They even did this trick while an astronaut was orbiting earth in the space capsule and broadcast worldwide! The space center control man and the astronaut did it--quite a show for the audience! Don
