IT is only $35.00. Can I assume that you have to make up your own container or does it come prepared and ready to go?

Liam Montier says on his BBM promo video that "Steve Rowe had the brilliant idea of making one of these sort of 'Clarity' boxes, but in an every day item that is also clear."
OK, the methods are different, but Cameron Francis clearly released the genesis of this years ago: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S11564 and earlier http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S9401 This looks like Francis's idea for a box combined with something like Regal's method. Which is fine and serviceable, but the trailer seems to overegg the pudding when it implies originality. Even the name of the effect - "Mint" versus "Fresh Mint" - seems rather starved of originality. And with Francis's version, you used a real Tic Tac box, which is more of an "every day item" than the box with the large sticker and fictitious brand name in the "Mint" trailer.

Make a signed card vanish and reappear inside a transparent mint box, that’s been in full view throughout! Just as ideal for formal work as it is for showing your mates in a casual setting, ‘MinT’ is easy to handle, super clean looking and just about the ultimate card to impossible location! Includes Steve’s full professional routine, where a playing card openly isolated in the mint box later becomes a spectators signed selection, where the SPECTATOR removes the card from the mint box THEMSELVES! The mint box is a professional, hand made prop that you can use with playing cards, bank notes, billets and anything else that takes your fancy. Includes special mint box, materials to customise your gimmick with red or blue bicycle cards, and a replacement label."

Although I haven't seen it in person yet, Owen contacted me about Mint, explained the workings and asked if I was cool with it. I was totally cool with it. Different method than Fresh Mint.
Although I am getting a kick out of all the "clear box" card to impossible location effects that are all the rage. The thing I like about using a Tic Tac box for this sort of thing is that it's small enough to put into a larger opaque container so the audience doesn't get ahead of you. I usually use Fresh Mint for bill to impossible location and I have it in an Altoids tin. Have the spectator open the tin and dump the Tic Tac container into my (empty) hand with the bill clearly visible. I say, "As you can see, I'm working with a theme, here. Strong mint... Fresh Mint... US Mint." Gets a good laugh.

The tag line on the video is:
"Ultimate Organic Destination Box" While in the packaging itself is: "The anytime, anywhere, clear destination box." Excuse me?! Why is my product being used to market this when it has nothing to do with it? It is as far removed from my Destination Box as can be. This is NOT a Destination Box in any way shape or form. It is not ultimate either. This implies an improvement on my Destination Box that can never, ever be bettered. It is not. My Destination Box is not an effect; it is my prop and method for the effect Card to Box. This uses neither of them and it isn't organic so can someone explain how is it the "Ultimate Organic Destination Box"?

I cant comment on the name but a tic tac box seems like a fairly "organic" prop.

Hi Jon,
we mean organic as in a natural everyday familiar item which is what a tic tac box is. in that, we feel this is the ultimate version as there are not any others out there close to be able to do what this does. Why do you feel we are using your product to market it? We mention and recommend Perfect Score on the dvd and even offer it as a bundle on the site. |

I think Jon may be taking offence to the term 'destination box'.
Whilst I could see his point (if that is indeed what he's annoyed about), unless he's trademarked Destination Box, then there's no reason why someone can't mention it in their own copy. How is mentioning that in the producers opinion this is the best type of 'destination box' any different to someone saying, "Better than The Invisible Deck", The Ultimate Ring flight gimmick" etc? |

I think the issue is that "destination box" has become a general term to describe these type of effects, even though its also the name of Jon's product.
Its like if someone had released an effect called "ambitious card", you can see how that would play out. So I completely understand Jon's point, but I don't think a lot of people will draw that same conclusion. |

Hi Stookie31 (Liam, Owen, ???)
I know you are using my product because the one you are selling uses Destination Box in the tag lines. Do you feel that Destination Box is the new way that everyone is calling Card to Box now? Personally, I don't. I've never heard anyone else use Destination Box as the term for putting a card in a box. As such, it's the name of my version of card to box and not the generic term for the effect. Does anyone here use 'Destination Box' to describe any version of Card to Box? It just seems a very strange marketing ploy to use a well-known product name as the basis for another product. That's just going to add confusion. There is no reason why someone can't use Destination Box in the ad copy. I wouldn't use it to describe something completely different though. This feels like someone is advertising an apple as the 'ultimate crunchy orange'. I also doubt Samsung would use the term 'ultimate affordable iphone' even if the word wasn't protected. I know I'm not going to change anyone's minds about this no matter what I say. I just wanted to put over my thoughts on it.

Wow, that was a rant for nothing I think.
Destination box is what I called a box in which anything will end, cards, bills since it's the DESTINATION (get it ?). It's like when people call it a mystery box or kennedy box, it's a generic term and don't think it hurts anyone's business. My 2 cents.

It was never even mentioned HERE in this thread that the tagline referred to it as a destination box, until you brought up the issue, and any problems with it don't need to be made public at this point. You certainly have a right to feel any way you want, but I just don't think this is the place to initiate grievances. |

I have to agree with Jon on this one purely because when I read the description of this effect with the reference to 'Destination Box'I immediately thought of Jon's Destination Box there are numerous other ways that this could have been described and if it were me I would have avoided using words of the name of another well known effect it does sound like tactical marketing to me.
