Cool. I feel really relaxed now.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I remember the first time I heard this; it was electrifying. Now it's just awesome

I had the good fortune to meet Iz while I was stationed in Hawaii.
He was just as sweet as his voice!

I had never heard of this man, before. His voice is so clear and pure. Went to Wikipedia to learn more about him...anyone whose casket laid in state at the state's capitol building was a very beloved person.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I know you didn't ask for a comparison, but after listening to both some things came immediately to mind, sooo.... Personally speaking, I feel a preference for Isreal. In Geoffrey's voice there is just a tiny bit of tension (and not in a bad way - I do not at all mean something that is poor technique, at all - tension is often associated with "bad" in singing, but I am not referring the 'that' tension, here) in the sound, just in the natural way he sings...and he does sing beautifully. With Israel (for me), it is almost as if his voice is floating on clouds, and there is a feeling of release from cares of the world when I listen to him. I feel peace envelope me with Israel. Geoffrey sings beautifully, but for these reasons, Isreal has the edge, for me. Of course, those 2 selections Isreal sang (Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World) were, to me, almost PERFECT showcases for his voice. I'm sure that there are selections that Geoffrey's sound would be more at home in than Israel.

Iz was indeed remarkable.
Strangely enough, the Over the Rainbow/ Wonderful World medley stormed the German charts a few years back. One could hear it nearly EVERYWHERE, from elevators, bars, and supermarkets to sporting events and TV commercials. Attempts to understand the phenomenon were sometimes odd; I remember one artical trying to explain it as a "Freakshow" (and they used the English word, too), because he was a huge man with a boy-like voice. At the time I couldn't decide whether that was racist and bigoted or just plain stupid. It doesn't matter. Iz had his day in a cold country on the other side of the world. (Of course, radio announcers couldn't pronounce his name correctly.) |
