Any suggestions on where to purchase the gimmick (M*****) for the Chop Cup, I would like to try and make one myself at home? I did a quick search, but didn't find anything. Or if there is a publication out there somewhere's that gives suggestions.

Lee Valley sells a sample set of rare earth magnets of various sizes for about $20. The smallest ones might work for a chop cup, the bigger ones are useful for othe things.

Skyfire... Check out neodymium magnets; they are very small and powerful, because of the small size you might have more options to chop with.
Good luck with your project. . |

Thanks for the replies. I did find some small Rare Earth Neodymium magnets on Amazon that has a Pull Force of 1.6 lbs. I imagine that Pull Force wouldn't be too strong for a small Chop Ball. Just didn't want to have to body slam the cup to make it work.

Skyfire 1.6 lbs. is far to strong for a chop ball. Order from K&J magnetics. If the ball is 1&1/8" (standard size ball) you will want a cylinder magnet SKU #D2X0 which has a pull force of .89 lbs.
