With the topic of “Getting Old” in another thread and having recently heard of a friends relatives funeral. I thought about my own, should I plan it now and even pay for it? I think I should, so it’s done and dusted the way I want.
Here what I am thinking........” Upright Burials provides Australians with a proven alternative in burials that is simple, natural, and economical. Our burial approach is distinctive in a number of ways as outlined below: 1. It is environmentally friendly and ecologically sustainable. 2. The body is placed in a vertical position in a biodegradable body bag. 3. The burial method uses a far simpler and safer approach that removes the OH&S issues and labour costs associated with traditional horizontal burial. The burial service includes pick up, administration, burial preparation, and burial for a single, one-time fee of $3250* (including GST)............. Anyone else had similar thoughts?

When I was young, my mother sent me out to buy some cream.
I spent nearly all day looking until I found a sign over a place and phonetically sounded it out. 'Cream –at-or-ium" I thought “this is it!’ Inside I saw all these people standing around so I went over and asked "What's cooking?' I told the policeman later, "That's when the fighting started"

I plan on attending mine.

I never really cared, since I won't be around to notice. But making plans ahead of time to make it environmentally friendly sounds like a very admirable idea. I suppose cremation burns up a lot of energy.
Of course, in Germany one doesn't have as much choice as other places. You can't have your ashes kept in an urn on the mantle (or in a locket around Paul McCartney's neck), which would be a good choice. How about an "Upright Burial" at home? Just put me in a big ziplock bag and put me in the attic or basement. |

Cut me in two and put me in two graves, perhaps.

I want my final act to be educational, so I'll let the medical students practice on me. As a bonus, my disposal fees won't come out of my family's pocket.

My sister (who is terminally ill with cancer) wants to donate her body to science. My other sister (an oncology nurse) doesn't want her to, because of the irreverence shown to corpses by medical students.
Now that Ian has brought it up, I think that maybe I will also donate my body. The irreverent students would probably enjoy slicing through my tattoos. Or would they turn all gray or something? |

I don't think the students would turn gray, I'm pretty sure they are use to seeing dead bodies.

I considered The Body Farm, but I'm probably going to be creamated. My plan is to be dressed casually, sports coat and such, NO black suit!!! I also want a wake where everyone gets drunk and tells outrageous lies about me. Finally, in the spirit of the Vikings or Egyptians, I want to be creamated with cards, coins and sponge balls in my pockets so I can bore everybody in Heaven/Hell to tears with my magic!!!
