This just does nothing for me. It was akin o watching someone open a dealer item and try it out immediately with virtually no thought given to presentation. Meh.

No, Jamie, I'm not kidding. Screaming spectators does not equate to a good, thoughtful presentation.
I can teach a simple trick to someone who's never done magic in his/her life in a few minutes and they'd be able to get similar reactions. Does that make them artists or good presenters? No.
It's all in the reflexes.
