None of it matters as they gave a car away, it's done and dusted. Smile

Actually, the model tweeted afterwards that her bosses and Crew Carey were very supportive

I wanted to see if the model got in trouble so I googled "Chewing out model."

Yikes! Was shocked to see what came up...

Okay, but ... can't you get a $21,000 car, sell it, pay taxes from the cash sale and still come out ahead?

No.

The taxes are due before you take possession.

I'll write slower:

Pay the taxes. Take the prize Sell the prize. Replace the tax money in your (bank account, checking count, (fill in the blank) account). Keep the balance.

YIKES! That post was about as logical as people who say, "Oh, I can't pay you back, that money's already spent."

Write as slowly as you want. I don't have the money in my account to pay the taxes on a $21,000 car so that I can sell it (for a lot less than $21,000) and replace the money. I would have to take out a loan to get the money. Get the car, get a lot less that $21,000 for the car and then pay back MORE than the taxes owed on the loan (interest you know).

Also, I'm betting the model in question will be pointing at prizes for awhile and NOT taking part in any games!
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say.
"Catch your dreams before they slip away."
"Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you could lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?"

As it says in the article Brian cited, the only taxes that are due when you get the car are the state sales taxes. You get a 1099 at the end of the year to send in with your federal taxes.

We had friends that appeared on Wheel of Fortune and at the end of their taping, someone just handed them a check for $32,000 and change.
