A couple of news items here in New Zealand at the moment have been about "chuggers". I note that in the approaches to getting strangers to stop and talk to them, they are using techniques already in use by interactive buskers, such as magicians working on the streets as part of the Draw to get people to STOP. We magicians got there first!!
Certain religious groups back around the 1950s got started soliciting the public in the Western World. And now we have chuggers joining in. Not to mention street beggars. Some of the public, I'm sure, are tired of this constant call for their attention when they are out walking. It's probably making us street magician having to work harder to get people to stop, stay, and pay. So... Has anyone considered magic to traffic? :p
I've never seen the traffic thing in the uk. Chuggers tend to have leaflets or buckets in their hand, so I guess try to look as different from them as possible. If you're wearing a top hat and suit, I don't think people will connect the two. |
