Hi All!
I just wanted to announce that Alberto de Figueiredo from Spain will be on PENGUIN LIVE on Sunday May 10th. I can not help but recommending this magician, is a professional in broadest sense of the word and one of the most talented and respected magicians I know. People like Juan Tamariz, Woody Aragon or Gabi Pareras rave about him all the time. It is already said!! http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/5312 Best Pipo |

Sounds like it's all cards..which could be fine.As soon as there is a contents list I will be tempted to order.
There are a few people I would just order a lecture from straight away [Brad Henderson please?] but Alberto de Figueiredo is not one of them.

Yeah, I don’t like at all the “pre-order” concept, the pile weak DVDs and books in my room taught me to distrust the nice words written in the cover of the products. I was not trying to promote “pre-order” but to inform about the event; Alberto is not yet very popular outside Spain.
I don’t know which particular material will be included, he has already published 3 books (on close-up magic, parlour/stage magic and mentalism) so all of his work wont be covered in the lecture, most likely it will contain a little bit of everything. What I can guarantee is that you won’t find “fancy gimmicks” or “ultimate moves” but good strong worker routines, practical sleights and a charming guy. The repertoire of many many Spanish professional magicians are filled with his routines. In any case, different people have different tastes so I think it is a good idea to wait for the content list or the reviews. When I said he is very respected I mean it, if you happen to know any Spanish magician you could ask for Alberto, I am sure you will hear nothing but good words about him. Pipo |

Hi guys,
I'd like to join Pipo and magomago and thouroughly recommend everything from Alberto. He is not only a great magic thinker but a very practical performer. No pipedreams, just road tested effects. In my opinion, he is one the top 5 magicians in Spain right now, with really crowd pleaser shows and a very original approach. Don't say we didn't warn you... Best regards |

Thanks a lot for the info. Will definitely check it out. I've been fascinated by Spanish magicians lately (My mind had just been blown by Mario Lopez yesterday in his lecture and workshop). Looking forward to this one.

Of course I just can recommend you the Alberto de Figueiredo lecture this week in Penguin Live. He's a great magician, the stuff is very good, and you can learn a lot from a real performer. He's also charismatic and funny, so always is very enjoyable to watch. Check it!!

Now you don't have to write much if you don't want to but...a short review? What were the highlights?

I agree this was a great surprise and filled with clever thinking on classic effects.
Great sense of humour. All workers in the best sense. The effects aren't new (card to impossible location, bill to impossible location, rope trick, dice stacking, card transpo, etc. etc.) but I found the style and presentation fresh, motivated and respectful of his audience.

Had watched the lecture last night. I enjoyed the performances and the teaching a lot (though I'm sure he could do even better in Spanish). Will definitely check out his books!

Here is quick list of the tricks you will learn in Alberto lecture at penguin magic.
-Instructions: An outstanding effect, that involve two spectators, where a signed card is found in an impossible location. Stapled on a notebook with instructions on how to perform the effect. This is Alberto de Figueiredo version of Spanish magician Pepe Carroll. And an improvement of a Roman Garcia idea to make the effect more easy. -Back in time: One of the latest Alberto creation, a novel effect where a signed card Travel from a wallet to the deck, and from the deck to the wallet. It is very clear effect, very easy to do and with a great impact to the spectator. A truly gem. -Dice Staking. As the title says a dice staking routine that shows the skills of the magician. But also a piece of magic with dice with a great finale. To me is a great combination of magic and skills. If you want to include something different to your repertory this is your effect. -Magician Tools: A trick that Alberto perform in his show as opener. It shows the spectator what they going to see. Magic, and humor. -Bill in lemon: I follow this routine over the years, end enjoy it many many times. For me it is the most funny and magical bill in lemon I ever seen for lay people. It is very clever. -Musical Chairs. Alberto de Figueiredo version of James Biss effect, where he predict three times what going to happen. I performed this idea for a convention and really love it. Easy to do and with a great impact. -Invisible Twist: This brainwave deck but with a great addition. Spectator not only turn one card but torn one corner of the card he chooses. At the end the missing corner is found in spectator pocket. -Stop me: A version of Denis Behr effect Stop it, magician predict three times what card a spectator going to stop. A really good effect to learn and perform. -Cuffed: This is a really outstanding effect where a card if found in an impossible way. Magician is cuffed, the signed card is clearly lost in the deck by spectators and after an apparent mistake the card is found. Really recommended effect to perform. Love the effect and love the way it is done. -The building: Alberto de Figueiredo version of well known omni deck, it will fool you. Ferràn Rizo |
