My name is Joshua but you may call me Josh.
Or if stage names are preferred, or common, here then 'Michael Mason.' Any fellow brethren here will understand the surname in the stage name. I'm 27 years old. I currently hail from Plattsburgh, NY. Some of you may have heard of Michael Blaine, the hypnotist, who lives here as well. I'm studying Business Administration at SNHU. I've been considering adding Political Science as a minor. Eventually, I'd like to attend UVM School of Law to pursue a JD. Magic has always fascinated me. Some tricks and illusions are more easily explained than others. I can't help but feel, however, that a belief in something - something very powerful - is the only explanation for some things. I have always been a fan of Criss Angel. Although I'm interested in learning some tricks, I'm more interested in learning about illusions and levitation. What I hope to gain from here are advice for beginners, suggestions for performances, tips, networking opportunities, etc. |

Thank you for the warm welcome, folks!
I am working on performing a variety of magic, such as street magic (i.e. card and coin tricks) and some mentalism but I hope to make illusions my specialty. This includes levitation. I am especially interested in anything that is bizarre, such as the Tongue Skewer, Poor Boy Paper Cut, Sick, Saw, and some others. I guess the latter is often considered 'graveyard magic.' Chain and straightjacket escapes would be interesting too. |

I would like to add that I have considered learning some more kid-friendly tricks in order to be able to appeal to all ages. In the event that I am able to perform for one of my children's schools, or at a birthday party, I would like to have a variety of material. Although some children might think Saw is 'cool,' I personally feel uncomfortable about purposely swallowing items, or cutting myself, in front of children. I would hate for anyone to attempt something and ending up hurt.
