I am most interested in illusions, some street magic, mentalism, and levitation. I would like to learn more about how to "breathe" fire, "swallow" swords, etc. Some of my tricks will not be for the faint of heart.

David Blaine, Houdini, and Criss Angel are my inspirations in the field of magic.

With all of this information in mind, I would like to see suggestions for a performance soundtrack.

Some of the artists which I have considered adding are All That Remains, Bullet For My Valentine, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Asking Alexandria, and As I Lay Dying.

It's not exactly dramatic music, but I recently came across this: http://tabletopaudio.com/

It's a collection of musical backdrops and sonic atmospheres designed to add some drama to tabletop RPG sessions. Some of them are pretty spooky. I suspect if you approached the guys who made them, you could negotiate some sort of deal for using them in live performance.

Hi
The Triple Tree - Ghost (Excellent album inspired by MR James)
Everything from Ghost Box records and the so called Hauntology scene
Current 93 - Nature Unveiled / Dawn / Dog Blood Rising
Nordvarg - all...
Everything from 30's cabaret (Kurt Weil etc...)
Uto Ughi - Trillo del Diavolo and everything from Tartini or Paganini
Sunn O))) - Oracle
Earth - Hex
KTL
Kevin Drumm
Brighter Death Now and everything from COld Meat Industry
Deutsch Nepal
Rmedl K11 - Chthonian Music
Early British Folk (Anne Briggs etc...)

At least, those are a little part of my music collection, those titles are, in my opinion, perfect soundtracks/effects for Bizarre/Seances

That resource is great! I've got to keep that in mind and maybe reach out to them. Thanks MATCult!

Lawyer chiming in here. Just be aware that publicly playing music at a paid (and often unpaid) event, without permission, is a violation of copyright laws. ASCAP and BMI do police this. Not staying you will get caught but consider it.

Of course! That's why I said I'd check in with them. I think artists deserve to be compensated for their work- be it magicians or musicians, or to at least have their permission. It's a great website though, and what a cool idea they had....

I emailed and asked if it was OK to use in a magic performance. The response said:

" I insist that you use these in a magic performance! If you find yourself making too much money on them, feel free to ease your conscious with a donation Smile "

I will use a few, if you really want to feel covered you could email and ask, but it's pretty clear to me that it is OK.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a very cool individual... and deserving of a donation when the time comes.

A few years ago I wanted to use music from a Glenn Danzig song. I probably wouldn't have been caught but if so court costs would have put me under.

I've recently discovered singing bowl meditation tracks. They lend a sense of ritual to the proceedings without an overly dramatic or cheesy flair. Reasonable, calming, and creepy. For example: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OW7TH2U4hps
