Often, when alone, I find myself speaking my thoughts aloud . . . to myself, evidently.

Is this common?

Do y'all do this?

Or do they remain simply thoughts?

I talk to myself lots of times. I can't really say it's with any great articulation though. Smile

I do it ALL the time. Ask Maribel how many times from another room she has said "what" because she has excellent hearing!

Smile I have dialogues. I don't do it on purpose, but I start raising objections to what I'm thinking, then defending myself. Especially when running or walking alone.

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats

I will think and talk aloud...it's when I start answering myself that I begin to worry...

As they say, I talk to myself when I need expert opinions.

I think it's just a way we get to talk to our back=brain.

Thanks guys! All this time I thought only crazy people talked to themselves. I guess I am more normal than I gave myself credit for.
Whew, that's a load off my mind.

You may want to be careful using me as a barometer for "more normal".

Many brilliant and creative people talk to themselves. It is when you answer yourself back that you may be loosing it.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I do it often, particularly when I am frustrated. I also talk myself through complicated things.

I always do it, especially when I'm writing my books and seminars. That's one of the reasons I created two separate identities to argue with in my books, Dr. Crow and Dr. Bob.

The three of us rarely agree, but we often come up with interesting solutions to problems in mentalism and show creation.

I just tried it (thinking, I mean). When I think I don't have a voice. It's just thinking.

There are many dialogs that come from my mouth, but they are not all me. There are several others in there who serve to make life more interesting. I think it's normal.
