Can someone also please comment on the indian appearing cages? It would be great to know just how much better the Harakhan cages are. The photos on the internet look identical!

Many thanks,

Xavier.

Hello Darcy:

You already mentioned Stevens Magic; they would be my first choice. I have found they have the best selection on Japanese imports - especially Mikame and Harakhan. I've seen the cage before at Hocus-Pocus, but think it was part of an estate sale. I've also seen the cage on ebay.

Concerning the Indian-made version, it looks interesting. I went to the Trickery's website, and they have a big photo of the cage; it looks good. However, so much of the stuff from India is junk - it's hard to tell.

If I were you, I'd call Howard at the Trickery. He's a straight shooter, and will tell you how well it works. I'm pretty sure he'll let you return it if it doesn't work very well.

Darcy,
hey man FFOM...hehhehheh. Stay away from the Indian kind, I've heard bad things and I accidentaly got one when ordered a Harakan from a dealer once. I sent it back though and I didn't want to put my birds in it. It looked like a torture device. Even if steven's doesn't have it in stock I'd trust them over any other dealer out there.

Also, does anyone know if all the Harakhan cages are made identical. I already have a large one, but if I was to buy another one would it look pritty much the same as the one I already have? I have seen several pictures of the Harakhan cages and they all seem kinda different.

Thanks again!!!

As far as I know Harakan is still making them by hand so they won't all be the same. I met him once, he's an old dude. But very kind and we got along well.

I once had two of the large cages, and they were identical. What seems different in the pictures you've seen?

In several of the pictures ive seen they all seem to have a slightly different shape. One would be very oval and the top would be quite flat and another would have a more pointed top etc. (If that makes sence)

Are you sure those were all original Harakans? The Indian made ones are usually more elongated.

I saw the picture of the elongated one on stevens magic. The link to the picture is http://www.stevensmagic.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3423 The harakhan cage that I have seems to be much more flat on the top and allot wider.

Well you have to keep in mind that he's holding the cage in the air which may cause the cage to look longer and pointer at the top because of the weight of the cage and gravity and whatnot. But that sure looks like a harakans to me.

Hi Darcy,

Try Daytona. They are usually good for bird supplies.
Experience the Magic.
