Isn't this an Elmsley routine? Is it on one of his tapes? Do you use it, anyone? And does it get a good reaction? Curious and thinking about adding it for a bit to mix things up. Thanx, Trois

Yup, "Between the Palms" is an Elmsley routine. My absolutely favorite version is published in Simon Lovell's book "Simon Says." It's called "Another Departed Point," and it's a combination of Elmsley's "Between Your Palms" and "Point Of Departure." It kills.

Yeah, I use this all the time, with two identical jokers. It kills.

I use a version of it by John Bannon from his book Impossibilia. It's very simple and pretty deceptive.

Ammar does a great Between the Palms on Volume 3 of Easy to Master Card Miracles. Elmsley does it on Volume four of his series (although his showmanship isn't quite as good as Ammar's) and it's a very strong effect. I would caution you not to use jokers however, as people know that there are two jokers in a deck and they might suspect something - even though the jokers aren't really duplicates people will pin things on just about anything they can get their hands on.

Jondabach.
I have taken on board your comment about not using two identical jokers, but I do a couple of counts/moves with the "small" packet, and showing "two" identical jokers would be more deceptive than showing two Jack of hearts let's say, which I feel is too obvious to the spec, no matter how fast/deceptive your count is. But thanks anyway. I guess it's "different strokes for different folk." All the best DADE,

I've learn it and have used it. Elmsley's version. I'
ve tweak'd it a bit to suit me. And yes it does play well. Bannon's "Do the Twixt" is the one where the spectator holds between the fingers,I believe ,and I'm going to play with it next. thanks guys, Trois

Peter Duffie has a version of this that I love called Psychography in his ebook, Open Secrets. I do not know the Elmsley method, however. For people familiar with Duffie's version, how different is his effect from the original?

I like the Jennings version in the Busby pamphlet Larry Jennings on Cards and Coins. What's wrong with a duplicate? And I don't think combining Between Your Palms and Point of Departure makes a stronger effect than Between Your Palms alone. IMO. It's a much more impossible effect than Point of Departure so why combine them? The deep mystery of Between Your Palms is that a card placed there *before* a card is selected and signed *becomes* the selected signed card while the spectator is holding it. NOT that it "disappears" from his grip and "shows up" reversed in the deck. Yuck!

I'm not sure about everbody else, and I certainly don't agree with "YUCK" but I do I agree that between your palms is stronger by itself.
If I could get past the psychological barrier of not having the cards in the right order, in "between your palms" I would probably be performing that one at tomorrow's gig. love the concept. one of the stronger concepts there is, I think. I guess I still have some thinking to do about that one. The Bannon concepts seem to work but I'm not sold on that assisted switch yet either.

Starsini - Have the spec rotate his palms 180 degrees after removing each card...nobody keeps track of the original order that way.

If I am not mistaken its aon Michael Ammars ETMCM vol-3 and it is Alex Elmsley's, I have used it a few times and it has a great reaction.
