Hey dooblehorn --
Sorry you're not getting the instructions. Jon's handling is conceptually a bit tricky to get -- I know I had trouble wrapping my head around it when I learned it. But once you get it, it's really easy and straightforward. Obviously, I can't go into detail here. Underneath the unlisted Youtube instructions there is an outline of all the contents of the video with the time they are taught -- perhaps this will help (Jon's Out of tis Blah Blah Blah is at 15:49). As Jack mentioned, the pages in his copy of the booklet where out of order -- all the booklets I've checked were fine so I don't know if that was a fluke or if others will have the same problem. If you're in doubt, contact me at chris@magicaonline.com with the password in the subject line and add the word pdf -- I'll email a pdf of the instructions. Hope that helps! -Chris |

Is it correct that these postcards do actually contain upper body nudity, or are they more like pin up girl photographs of women wearing lingerie and such? If they are just pin up girl photographs I could still see performing this for adults even at professional gigs, but if they do contain actual nudity (as mild as it may be) I think that would really limit the situations I would be able to perform this in. Even with the back story, I don't think I would feel uncomfortable pulling out photos with nudity in them at a professional corporate gig, or something like that.
On a side note, this seems like the perfect way of performing Jon Armstrong's Out of This Blah, Blah, Blah. I've always thought it was a great handling, but I never used it because there were a couple things that I didn't like about doing it with playing cards, and I thought other versions of OOTW seemed to make more sense when using cards. But doing it with these postcards resolves all that, and Jon Armstrong's method seems to be perfectly matched for this. |

Hey Bundleofstix – yes, it’s tasteful, upper-body nudity. It’s pretty much PG-13 (think of the nudity in Titanic, but sepia-toned). I find adults almost always laugh when they first see the cards – it’s nothing they haven’t seen many times before. But if you’re not comfortable with it, you certainly shouldn’t do it.
Hey David – not sure why the youtube link doesn’t work for you – it’s the exact same link I’ve sent to everyone and so far everyone else has gotten access (if anyone out there is technically inclined and has an idea what might be going on, please feel free to share). There are also two copies of the instructional video (in HD and standard definition) in the dropbox link I sent. In addition to the pdf of the instructions I emailed you, I sent a replacement hard copy of the instructions via mail – it should be on your side of the pond within a few days. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. Thanks, Jack! |

Got mine and it's a great set of props that should not wear out any time soon. A really clever idea to liven up the OOTW effect.
One thing, on the ninth page of instructions in the booklet (the first page after the staples) the last line of the top paragraph reads, "The top card they hold is French and all the rest are erotic." I believe it should read, "... and all the rest are locations." You might be confused about this if you are doing the traditional handling.
Honi soit quit mal y pense.

Yes, Tommy, it's tamer than a day at the museum -- especially a museum in L.A.!
Thanks, Bill -- and thanks for the catch on the instructions -- I'll fix that in the next printing. Thanks, Sly! |

Some feedback on French Postcards:
"Chris Philpott's French Postcards is the best presentation of 'Out of this World' I have ever seen, and the most "magic for the buck" I have ever purchased. 'Out of this World' has always been a favorite of mine, but it's too sophisticated, too lengthy, and lacks enough humor for my venues. And, it's a card trick, which I try to avoid on stage. French Postcards has removed all of these reservations. A BRILLIANT routine." - Bob Meigs "I already use The 100th Monkey and The Tossed Out Book Test on a regular basis. I've just used French Postcards at a gig tonight during that "show us something different" moment. WOW what great reactions. Thank you for sharing your innovative approach to mentalism with mere mortals like myself. Truly refreshing." - Graham Lowery Thanks, Bob and Graham for the kind words (and for letting me share)! |

Just thinking out loud here:
Would love to see a collections of cards entitled "Saints and Sinners" 10 cards with well-known good guys: Mother Teresa, Paul the Apostle, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King, Joan of Arc, Thomas Edison, etc (You Get the picture...) 10 cards with famous sinners: Jack the Ripper, Adolph Hitler, Genghis Khan, Idi Amin, Caligula, Jeffrey Dahmer, etc. Same effect - different cast of characters... OK, the Cornell patter goes out the window but you could still have some fun testing peoples propensity to commit a crime, inner most fears or love/hate relationship with their "in-laws".... What say you? Tommy |

Hmm ok. Weird. The ratio female/men is kinda off. Is there a way to get an equal stack? One male just seems kinda scarce...
