I want any music which is technical or futuristic sounding. The type of stuff on Jonathan David Bass' online videos (www.jonathandavidbass.com)
If anyone knows of any please let me know. Thanks, TM |

My son listens to this type of music. There are many variations. Look under "Trance" type and see if you can listen to these. They are modern and I saw a young performer (Mat Franco) use this type and he was great! An upcoming star.

TempleMagic-
You're in England and you're having a hard time finding this type of music? Having been an LA DJ years ago, I learned that the UK has ALL of the good music. Trance music is definately where you want to go to look. Also check out the 'Gothic/Industrial' section at any music store for some really cool stuff. Are you looking for more orchestral types of recordings or something fairly 'thumping'? Here are some ideas or bands to check out that I think may fit the bill: Laibach - Industrial/Symphony Nine Inch Nails - (look for a cd titled 'A String Tribute to Nine Inch Nails). Don't look for the regular albums, but instead check out some of the amazing remixes of Trent Reznor's original music. MDFMK - (originally called KMFDM) A band that fluctuates between hard electronic rock and 'futuristic' dance. Chemical Brothers - Trance/Dance - You BETTER know who they are. Meat Beat Manifesto-A band that has been pushing the edge of this type of music for almost 15 years! Crystal Method - Another MUST KNOW! Dance/Trance The Orb - Electronica with a kind of etheral/ambient house thing going on. Front Line Assembly - Hard/futuristic/electronic Machines of Loving Grace - A now defunct band that put out some interesting rock/electronica in the vein of a watered down Nine Inch Nails. Messiah - Techno group I could go on and on and on about this type of music. Some other resources are the Cleopatra Records label out of San Fransisco who specialize in this type of music and put out various samplers and are just an incredible collective of people. Another really good way to find what you're looking for is to check out radio sites like live365.com, find the category of music that you're interested in and just listen to a couple of different stations for a while. That way not only will you get a better idea of what it is you're looking for, you'll also get to see who the band is, the album and the name of the song. If you need more help, just pm me. I could talk about music all day, so I'll quit now. Take care and I hope that this helps you out. Tony Ley TempleMagic- Just an added bit of information for you...I just checked the Jonathon David Bass site and BAM, most of the music that you hear IS, in fact, midi covers of songs by Nine Inch Nails. One of the songs was Head Like a Hole and right now I can't remember the other. Like I said before, check out the String Tribute to Nine Inch Nails, imported or remixed versions of their songs and solo work by the man who started it all, Trent Reznor. Take care, Tony Ley |
