So I'm not quite sure where else to put this and I usually put questions like this here... No one seemed to be upset by it in the past, so here goes.
On the way back from Russia, I have a layover at JFK. I arrive at 12:15pm and I don't leave until 9am the next day. I think that should be more than plenty of time to go to Tannen's from then until close. Could someone please help me by letting me know the cheapest possible way to do that? Traveling and all, I wont have much money. At Tannen's I will only hope to meet a magician or two that I can have a short "session" with while I'm there. If there isn't, I'll get to admire the shop and spend some time there. If there's anyone that would be interested in meeting there at Tannen's, that'd be awesome! I'd be getting there on July 28th, 12:15pm and then I'll immediately be going through customs, baggage claim, whatever and head to Tannen's. After Tannen's I'd need to come back to the Airport and sleep there I guess. Thanks for any answers in advanced. I looked on Google Maps but I'm not sure that it covers everything and I'm pretty sure it doesn't look for the cheapest route. I need the cheapest route... excluding walking there, aha. |

Your cheapest option would probably be to pick up the Airtrain and take it to the E train. When you get the E train, you can take it in to Manhattan and get off at 34th street. It will probably take a while (not sure how long) but should be a lot cheaper than taking a cab. There may also be buses that you could take as well. If you are going all that way, you may also want to stop by Fantasma Magic as it's just around the block from Tannens.
Safe travels, Dave

Thank you, Dave. Any relative idea to what it costs for that route? Just roughly.

If you're going to Tannen's why not go to Fantasma too? It's almost next door, just around the corner.

Not really sure of the exact cost. A NYC native may know better but I would think it would be less than $10 each way. Hope this helps,
Dave

One-way, $5 for the Air train ticket and then $2.75 for the subway. You can put both fares on your MetroCard at once.
But I would recommend to take the Air Train and then the LIRR (Long Island Railroad) to Penn Station which is about $5 + $13, depending on time of day. It's much quicker and it will put you within a 5 minute walk to Fantasma and a 10 minute walk to Tannen's. The LIRR ticket you buy separately from the AirTrain ticket. Ask somebody at the Airport if you need help. Despite our rep, NYers are pretty friendly.

Even if there are nobody in the shop(which I doubt. There are always a group of magicians hang around), I think Magic Balay is always there, so I am sure you will have a good time in Tannen's. I wish I can go but I am basically grounded until mid August so I don't know if I can make it

Thanks for the responses! I'll definitely just ask around. For the past 2 weeks I'm use to being in countries where maybe one in twenty speak any English at all so it's gonna feel good to be able to ask questions!
