I bought this cheap looking plastic bed headboard for $13 had to talk her down from her crazy $35 (and I still think I over paid).
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......ejtx.jpg I cut out 2 panels to use on the throne sides. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......06be.jpg thin light plastic (trying to keep the weight down). |

I hit all the plastic and the frame with plastic paint.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......1ann.jpg I am using Rust-oleum American Accents 2X Ultra cover bonds to plastic (I love this stuff) |

I found a bolt of black fabric in storage (that someone gave me) that I am going to use, it is free.
I know this does not have to be black and may redo someday if I use the prop a lot, but the black is a good starting point. |

I cut out a simple base-- the standard is 1 inch but if the base is not to big you can cut from 1/2 inch and add a 5 castor in the middle.

OK I don't like the seat-- because the top sliding seat has to pass through the frame the back part of the seat is smaller than the front, that leaves holes when the seat is in the out position ( not visable from aud. only if seen from the above as in pix below)
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......gown.jpg also with just 2 sildes the seat in the out position sags a little ( think about sitting on a open drawer). Thought I would take a week to redesign and fix these problems. |

So far so good--- I lifted up the frame a little so there is a small gap between the frame and seat-- so the full seat can pass through,
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......jll0.jpg as for the seat sagging I am going to over kill it with 4 SETS of slides ( a total of 8 slides)right in the middle where the weigh is going to be. |

Has this been done before-- 2 skins for the same illusion--- This skin is good for king or wizard-- but not so good for skull chair or electric chair --- so I was thinking a different skin for this. I would keep the base an bench and have a separate skin that is very plain and painted very dark that can be themed skull or electric chair.

Illusionman2... I am a close-up guy, but I have really been enjoying your progress building your Satan's Seat... You have become like a Soap Opera to me that I must check in everyday to see where you are at. I am also impressed that you set a budget and have been real resourceful in finding parts... keep up the great work and keep us informed... I can't wait to see what else you decide to build.
Good luck, Bruce |

Why don't you reposition the original 2 slides to center under your weight and save the money? Even a train only needs two tracks.
Do you own a copy of Tops Treasury of Illusions? I think some of your problems that are causing you some re-dos can be prevented with some more knowledge on the prop. Just saying...

The slides only hold 100 pounds so I knew they were not enough from the beginning--But I do know what I am doing is overkill. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......dgrf.jpg (I have 3 plans for this)all the plans for this except the bought Osborne plan from his site. Someone gave me some more fabric so I will have to see what will work the best. PS thanks Bruce for the nice comments. |

Seat done
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......ksff.jpg and seat in out position http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......rth2.jpg next REDO for the weekend The chair was cut to Palmer's plans if you look at the first pix there is a lot of room for legs (to much I think) this means when seat is in out position you are sitting over air but if you were to cut 5 inchs off the depth you should still have enough room for legs plus when seat is in the out position you would be sitting half on bench and half in air ( much better if it works ), also the chair foot print would shrink by 5 inches (always a +). (the down side) As the chair is now the proportions are right doing this would mess with that, but I think it is a good trade off. |

I recut the sides (took off 4 inches), also took the stool apart and recut working on cutting down the bad angles. When I get it back togather I will take and post pictures.

I also cut 2 inches of the length of each armrest (this was just to keep the chair in proportion). I got the chair back togather today, I do like the other proportions better but as an illusion these work much better. I also changed the way the chair is put togather (to make it faster) it is now put togather with 6 pin hinges and 2 bolts and made to pack flat (except the bench).
