Hello to all the members. My name is Willy and I am extremely new to magic. My whole reason behind getting into magic was the birth of my son this past January. It started out as just learning some stuff on youtube and has turned into a love. With that said I was hoping for any advice on books or dvd's to get as a complete and total novice. Maybe a list of books and dvds that all magicians should have. Thanks

Welcome Will Leiva,
Keep a journal of your projects with dates. It will help you see how far you've come. The Tarbell Course in Magic is a good series to have. The Mark Wilson Course in Magic is good as well. It is best to just work on a couple things at a time till you can perform them before moving on. Most Magicians don't focus or practice enough. Best of Luck Will, Magic is a wonderful hobby. -Mary Mowder |

Thank you Mary! Never even occurred to me to keep a journal. Also who are some good magicians to look at. Ive watched stuff about Slydini and Dai Vernon. Also Ricky Jay but I was wondering who else might be great to watch and study. Thanks again for taking the time to give me that advice

I second Mary's book choices. You are at the beginning of a really exciting and fun journey. Take it slow and enjoy the ride. And use the Magic Café Forum as your roadmap through the mazes.
