First, let me say, I would only want to produce a parakeet (parakeets) under the safest of circumstances for the birds and I do have a small amount of experience with their care, but not using them in magic. I have several DVD's and info on dove production, but is there anything out there on parakeet production and the care of them (and their limitations) when it comes to performing with them? Any info would be appreciated.

Look in the sticky topic at the top of the page that I started- look for Dave Womach - Penguin Magic has some listed and in stock.
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

There is currently not much good information on Parkeet Magic, the expert died years ago, and his videos were never transferred to DVD.
Womach, is okay, but not the best in my personal opinion, but it is the only currently available information on the market. If you have dove information, then the tricks can be reduced for parakeets. Magic Inc, has sold a book on parakeet magic for years. It is okay, and will give you some ideas to try. The person famous for his parakeet magic, Jack Kodell, has never offered any reveals on his training and methods, he has decided to take the information with him to the beyond. From what little I have been able to glean from my readings, is that the magicians actual train the birds to act on their own more when it comes to parakeets. The real scoop is still very secret and only a few have worked out methods and routines for themselves. I can only think of 6 famous magicians that have used parakeets in their acts. |

I has been a long time, and I can't remember, he was a Spanish Taylor, live in the southern states, who did a bird and parakeet act years ago. He advertised in the magic magazines at the time. Later before his death, Steven's Magic had the tapes for sale. His name was something like Romano, or that is what comes to mind.
Maybe someone will remember on the Café. |

Hmmmm... that gives me a few clues to check into. I have Linking Ring mags going back many many years so I'll glance at those. If anyone else has any info to add, please do so. Thank you James, I'll check out that post now.
Thank you Bill for the information on this and my other posts. I appreciate the wealth of info that so many of you have! |

Yes indeed, Bill Hegbli is correct. I think he was a Mexican magician by the way he was dressed. I had those tapes too long time ago. That to me were the most comprehensive Parakeet Magic instructional video tapes. I also used his cone holders, they were great and my parakeets were comfy in it. Sorry, but I also don't remember his name now.

Back in the mid 80's or 90's, he was asked to stand at Abbott's GTG at the evening show. He was, I believe 93 then, would still do Taylor work for magician's only by request. I read he died several years later, that is when his videos took off. Oh, there was 2 volumes to his Parakeet magic. That was the time, video tapes cost $70. Just to expensive for my budget at the time.

I remember meeting at a TAOM in the late 1980's. Maybe his name was Ramon Gueritez. You are correct, he was trained as a tailor. My friend, Jody Baron, was given one of the last sets of paraket load bags he made by him personally at a Desert Seminar or Magic Live.
I need to do some more checking. This is bugging me now. Posted: Jul 22, 2015 10:15 pm Ok, I found it. His name was Ramon Galindo. I believe he is still alive. Here is an interview he did in 2000. He was on the cover of Genii in 1991. Richard
