Please let me know if this is how they are supposed to be. Ok I made the 1st mistake by buying one off ebay. The ball is comes apart into two halfs. Also if anyone can help me with making it disapear and reapear I would be greatful.

James

I realy haven't done anything with it yet as it did not come with a cloth. also the prop seemed like it was kinda short to do all of the moves that I have seen done. Can I bend it or what? also what finger do you all use?

Jkta99, I use my right middle finger for the G****** but found if I bend it I have trouble getting the reach I need to float the ball on the left side of the cloth, if that makes any sense.

Ok but the the prop that I have is only like 6 in long. I was wondering if some others are longer.

Greetings...
Six inches sounds kinda short... you can make a new you-know-what from a coat hanger... also, you can tighten the coils with pliers...

Perhaps you should obtain one of the books or videos on the Zombie... Tim Wright's Zombie video is good, also one of Jeff McBride's stage magic videos has good Zombie info, and there are a few books (some of which are pretty cheap, but then a new Zombie usually only cost about $15)...

Are you sure it's the stage version you have. 6 inches sounds like it could be the vernet mini zombie ball. How big is the ball?

Yosef-dov and The Scot are correct 6" dosn't sound like the standard stage version at all, my G****** is about 15" long.

If you really want the best in zombie gimmicks and props I would think about contacting general grant. his stuff is by far the best and he may be able to help you as well and point you in the right direction.

Also take a look at the books of wonder as there is a great gimmick drawn there by Tommy that really adds to the floating effect when under the cloth.

I think the question being asked is whether the ball is supposed to arrive in two pieces?

In which case the answer is "No."

There are some balls that do indeed split into 2. This allows you to end by spliutting it into a mylar flower bouquet etc. I have seen them this way.

This is another advantage of the ball in two halves...

I've done the Astrosphere effect with a Zombie...as long as the ungaffed side is facing the audience, it's great. Using "Sulky" IT, the effect can follow the Zombie routine, if you can somehow split it, hook up and go...I had a short "break" and I took advantage of it...

That was a long time ago...hmmm (pondering)

Thanks for bringing back a memory!

Right you are! I've seen the quality of his product.

As for which finger to use, believe it or not but I found my thumb to work best. It also allows you to periodically spread remaining fingers out and away from the corners of the foulard.

So most zombies are around 15 in long? Those of you who have it know what I am talking about. Also how much are they from general grant?

You can get a 5" diameter aluminum ball from Morrissey Magic...around $20...no Foulard tho'...Beautiful Ball...love it!

Oh, and may I add...At our local craft store, I recently picked up a 4 1/2" Christmas ornament, a crystal-clear plastic ball that comes in two pieces like the Zombie ball! Somehow, I'm going to put a hole in this thing (without shattering it), and spray-paint the inside some neon color...what the heck, just for fun...just a thought.

Morrissey Magic make the General Grant Zombie as well as their own.

Yes, Morrissey magic ball come apart. This is nice for finale effects. Abbotts Magic sealed theirs so they could sell additional balls for their finale.

If Ring 'N Things II ever gets off the ground, they may make theirs again.

Well your zombie sounds a bit small and so does the you know what. but you can get a good one from most magic dealers obviously Gen Grant makes the best but it depends on how much your gonna use it. Most of them do split in to not only for traveling but for "loads" I stuck to Silk fountains in mine so after the zombie routine I take the ball pull it apart and shake it looks good. Hope this helps pm me if you need a hand with anything I can give you Ali Bongo's address he would help you he is great with the zombie it is his trademark trick.

Best Regards

Luke

Jkta99 - Before you spend any more money on anything take a trip and look up: Big Easy Magic Co.

Or any other magic shop in your are. Ask them to demo the zombie for you and then go from there.
