The Calaveras have great art work and it's a good story.
The cards and the board look great and the Day of the Dead theme is very cool. The price is right you can't go wrong it's good value over all. You will like it...

Gentlemen, thank you for the support for Calaveras! Let me add that when I am doing readings and want a lighter, positive, and more in-depth system, Kadar is my go-to (both the main Kadar system and the Kadar Tickets). I have been using Kadar since the beginning (I was fortunate enough to be on the playtesting team), and between Calaveras and Kadar I can do just about any type of reading I need.

Entrails.
They are sloppy to toss, will stain your casting cloth, but make a wonderful sound when they splat. Even scares me. |

Besides Palm Reading, Tarot and Numerology... Kadar is at the top for me. Chris has done a most excellent job creating this wonderful system. It is very natural, unthreatening and laid back which is why I like it. The whole ritual of it, and especially the Cabinets have a real magnetic quality to them, and draw people into their powerful gravitational pull.
In 2010 I was initiated into a culture-specific Numerological Divination System indigenous to Afrika, which is traditionally only transmitted through initiation and passed down via oral history. For personal and cultural reasons, I've also been anthropologically researching several more unique, traditional Afrikan divination systems... The most interesting being Dogon Fox Track Divination (Mali), and Luvale Lipele Divination Baskets (Angola). Other unique systems include Bamana Cedena (Sand) Divination (Mali and Senegal). Bibliomancy is also practiced among the Nyole in East Afrika, while practicioners of the Mami Wata religion perform Water-Gazing to divine answers and communicate with the ancestral realm. And of course the more well known Yoruban systems such as Ifá Idagba (Odu) and Mẹrindínlógún (Cowrie Shell) of Nigeria. I am not interested in attempting to use any of these Afrikan religious and spiritual divination systems without first being properly initiated in them, and I feel it would be very disrespectful to use them for "magik" (deceptive) purposes as I think we as performers have to be aware of cultural appropriation and cultural theft. I'm still striving to figure out these things in my head though, in terms of what are appropriate ways to display true and proper representations of cultures and religions not our own, and what is just downright disrespectful and misinforming. Many of these Afrikan systems of divination are so deeply rooted in, intertwined with and connected to ancient and sacred religious and spiritual belief systems that to try to imitate them in the form of "magikal entertainment" and without being initiated within them, would be vehemently disrespectful in my opinion. That said, I am working on more of a universal and culturally-conscious Hoodoo Bone-Casting Divination System (Note: Hoodoo and Vodun/Voodoo are NOT synonymous, and have little in common--if anything). The system I'm configuring is diverse in its cultural roots, origins and application. Thus making it appropriate for people of all races, ethnicities and cultures to use and perform. On another note, for thousands of years the Shona of Zimbabwe have used Hakata (Bone Dice) Divination, and examples of such can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Moreover, when I was living in Ethiopia I encountered ancient dice which had been used for divination purposes well before the Common Era. Thank you for starting this thread Mike. Great and informative responses. 'Nuff respect! From Under the Shade Tree, ~ Nyama ~

Per Vox Gemma which is explained in Hidden Things. This is the system that inspired Herb Dewey and myself to do the audios (maybe available soon) by the same name. TEB3/Lary http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/teb3 |

The only reading system I don't see mentioned in this thread so far is Doug Dyments excellent Zenermancy. Perfect for mentalism, just uses ESP cards and the readings can go very, very deep if desired. Besides that I still use Kadar, Palms, TPR and most of the things mentioned here. S.H.A.R.E is also very good and can blend in with all the other methods.

Kadar is my favorite because they are easy to read and people have not seen them before.
They are entertaining to look at and the people who don't like getting readings are not turned off. http://www.alchemymoon.com/#!kadar-pro/cnsx I also second Doug's Zenermancy. This is different http://www.psycards.com/

I do a lot of challenge escapes. Always, the person tying me shows their problem-solving style, the mirror of what they use to create the problem for me. It's a delightful lead-in.

I have learned bone reading from a Sangoma in our Household where I stayed in South Africa. It is by far the one thing that kreeps others out the most.
Also I got interested in the ilm al raml, which is a geomantic sandreading system from Arabia. Last but not least I enjoy the IGing. I actually practised a technique called the dance of yü which uses the Trigramms. I would think this could be a system that quite a few people can relate to since the Ideas can be found in popular Feng Shui. To be honest, I fo not feel any need to take a look in the future at almost all times, so I learn these, I play around with it, I think about it. |

Gemstones.
When colorful stones are placed in an elevated or stemmed crystal goblet/candy dish, it creates a very enticing visual table display which turns heads in venues such as coffee shops. David
