I'm looking for some suggestions (names of effects) where the magician performs a card trick and the final card (presumably one that the spectator chose) is revealed in a way that is right in front of them, but they don't notice it until moments later. (On the magicians forehead for example).
If you happen to know a book that it's published in too, that would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance! |

You might want to look into Doc Eason's "Card Under Glass." He touches on it in a video set from L&L, but went into more detail on a 2-DVD set from Kozmomagic. In addition to the effect itself, you'll get basic principles and psychology that you can adapt for other impossible card reveals.
It's still magic even if you know how it's done.

I don't think Chicago Opener is what you are looking for. Maybe I misunderstood your original post.
I suggest looking into Card Under Watch, Card Under Box, Card Under Drink (mentioned above) and Card in Mouth. All great routines that utilize the same techniques from the Card to Forehead routine to place the card right under the spectator's eyes without them seeing. |

51-cards-to-the-pocket is a good one.
Maybe "card to deck" as well, when people look at your hand, thinking it holds the card, but in fact, it's still on the deck. Also, not as "why didn't I see it earlier?" as the others, but card-as-cigaret-to-mouth could be one. Other than that, FoggFactor has mentioned the most obvious ones... P! |

FoggFactor, yes it was my post, but I may not have explained. Chicago Opener is exactly such and effect. The first card changes back colors and is put face down on the table. The second selection fails to change which creates "magician in trouble" tension which is dramatic and is relieved when the first card is turned over. The effect of the second revelation floors lay audiences.

There is a easy one where the card they choose end in your mouth without the spectator noticing it

Here's an easy do-it-yourselfer. Use an iron-on transfer for inkjet printer to print out a big playing card to iron on to the back of your T-shirt. Have a card chosen (f*r*e)in such a way that you can't see it (H.Shuffle works well here). Have the spectator think about his card really hard, and you turn around with your back to the audience until someone notices that the card on the back of your T-shirt matches the card that he is thinking of. You can also just have an ordinary playing card stuck to your back with double-sided tape, but having the card actually printed on gets a stronger reaction.

See Eddie Fields' Way-Ahead Card To Cardcase in Jon Racherbaumer's The Greater Artful Dodges of Eddie Fields, pp. 18-20. The second quote in my sig line comes from this trick. In my version, the card is signed.
In the same volume, also see Ed Marlo's Unlimited Card-To-Case, pp. 24-25. Both, properly presented, reputation makers! This entire book is full of solid, amazing workers. One just has to look.

Lets get funky. Let's say we are going to force the 2H. Preload their jacket pocket/ bag with a duplicate 2H (putpocketing as opposed to pick pocketing).
Force the 2H, find the wrong card, ask what the card was, say oh that is the one in your (insert where you preloaded it here).
