I was lucky enough to have had this sent me before everyone else and have loved the idea when I first heard of it. This is something so practical to carry and is flexible so it wont shatter. Yes, it isn't perfect because the reflective surface isn't made of glass so it warps from different angles but it does its job! The smell was pretty bad when it arrived(stated in ad copy) but after leaving it in my garage for a week or so, it was 90% gone. I really do see this as a push forward in magic and see this helping many people!
Sean Yang's 3 way mirror is not only a mirror, but also a portable close-up mat! It is made of high quality safety mirror which weighs only 240 grams. It is light, thin, easy to carry and most importantly shatterproof. Not only it has all the benefits of the old 3-way mirrors, it is now indestructible and lighter than ever. After being folded, its size becomes as small as an A4 paper, so you can easily carry it in any bag or briefcase. The velvet backing not only looks elegant, but it can also act as a close-up mat. It is multi-functional and definitely worth every single penny. If you are in love with close-up magic, and always desire to practice anytime, anywhere, Sean Yang's 3-way mirror will be your best choice. "What a fantastic idea for those of us who love practicing anytime, anywhere. A close-up pad AND practice mirror. Mine is going with me everywhere." - Josh Jay "This has changed the way I practice; now I can't travel without it. Save 2 for me; one in my office and one in my suitcase" - Andost (Fism champion) * Due to the manufacturing process, the velvet cloth may harbor some odor of adhesive. It will go away after a few days of using it, so please don't be worried. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S19870

I love the 3-Way Mirror!
It's very well made and I love the multiple uses you get out of it! It perfectly fits in my backpack and at moments notice I can practice! -Kyle

I'm looking for a reasonably priced 3-way mirror however the portability of this one is not an important factor for me.
So I'm wondering if the distortion or warpage from not being a glass mirror is going to make it frustrating to use. I think for anyone who is on the road a lot it would be very useful but I don't want to feel like I'm in a funhouse. |

The mirror is strong enough. If you don't bend it hard, it is very flat and look very nice as trailer.
Even you bend it after couple hour it will back flat. I also used glass mirror. but it took a lot place. Sean Yang's 3-way mirror make you can practice anywhere in your home!! On your desk ,bed, Watch TV.... |

This 3 way is much better than I expected. I didn't find any distortion and I really like it's size and versatility. Like others have said, I'll be carrying this with me when the occasion demands. Close up pad and 3 way mirror all in one neat package. I'm really down with this.

A very good friend of mine bought this and was very upset at the quality of the mirrors. He could barely see his hands or the coin for that matter. After a week of frustration, he was ready to toss it when he noticed there were plastic "screen savers" over the mirrors. He pulled them off and couldn't be happier with it. Yes, I did laugh in front of him loudly as he told the story. After checking it out myself, this is on my short list for purchase. My question to those who own one... How easy is it to clean if you spill a drink or similar using it as a bar pad? (the size seems perfect for this but I wonder about ruining it)?

I haven't spill anything on it yet, but it's a velvet surface. So to clean it will be like a carpet I guess (but at least it's black so you won't see dirt that easy anyways). |

I probably would not double use it as a pad, but looks like a good deal nonetheless....non-breakable is the key word to me.

A couple of questions if people are still following the thread; Is this velvet or felt? Does the tape wrap around the edges to the back OVER the felt or is it wrapped over the back of the acrylic and then the felt is glued over that to the edge? And if so, do you see the edge of the felt where it was cut or does it wrap around to the front of the mirror over or under the tape? Or are only the hinges tape and the edges are all felt that wraps to the front? And last, what is the tape? Is it a duct/gorilla tape or book binding tape or gaffers tape? It looks to be a matte finish, is that right? It has been a few years now, so wondering how the hinges are holding up.

And one last question; Are the left and right mirrors slightly narrower and is that how it folds? Does it fold fairly flat without stress on the hinges?

They seem like a heavy Mylar or even very thin metal which has been highly polished., The velvet wraps around the back side and extends about 3/8" over the mirror. 3. There is no "tape" per say, just the velvet fabric which acts as a close-up mat if folded flat. No hinges, the velvet acts as the hinge. 4. Again, no tape, just fabric with a very matte finish as you would expect from velvet. 5. I have had mine a couple years and it is as good as new but I have never traveled with it. With reasonable care it should hold up well. 6. All 3 sides are about the same size (8.5") and they fold very flat. The mirror surfaces are not super high quality but definitely more than good enough for what we would typically need it for. I have been quite pleased with it. My only complaint is the velvet is a pet hair magnet and we have 3 pets. Actually any lint will seek out and find this velvet. Buy a pack of lint rollers if you get this product!!! Hope this helps. |
