At the risk of opening a can of worms and with mixed feelings (support the creator vs. why doesn't the creator care enough about me to offer me a better incentive to purchase it directly from them), my main reason (not claiming to speak for anyone but myself here) is: Lack of incentive offered by the creator vs. incentives offered by the dealers. For example: ...Some dealers are now offering extra handlings either after some playing around with an item or almost immediately after the release ...Discounts (either immediate or accumulated in the form of a frequent buyer's program) ...Better shipping costs The creator either happily or grudgingly sells it to Murphy's, who then sell it to dealers, who then sell it to magicians at the same price which the creator is offering it for directly (actually it often costs more to get it directly from the creator once the incentives mentioned are taken into account). If creators offered it directly to magicians at anywhere near the price that they sell it to Murphy's, they would get a lot more orders. I realize that this would also create other issues, but just trying to answer the question which was asked. Another reason is customer service (again, this is a generic comment and is not directed at this creator or item) - dealing with a creator that is out performing a lot vs. dealing with a merchant that is in business to sell items can lead to vastly different customer service experiences should there be an issue. I realize that there are plenty of creators that have great customer service and plenty of shops that have poor customer service, so many will have different experiences or opinions. |

Hi,
to be honest I didn't expect any response to my question... I also understand all the answers and the individual reasons. I think it's more of a personal attitude: if I want something so bad and I see that that none of my regular shops is going to put this item in their range in the near future I just buy it directly from the source/manufacturer. I don't earn that much but if I got the feeling the effect it's worth it I don't care if I pay e.g. 10 or 12 bucks as long as the price is still "fair" and in my price range. I just don't understand the whining, begging and asking in general... maybe it's because I'm working in a sales dept. and most of the customers are complaining & crying all the time because of nothing... It seems that the world hasn't got enough problems... But that's just me - back to the topic please. It's a great effect and I'm happy I've bought it Cheers

That is exactly my experience. I would love to support creators but we live in a world where the value comes from specialization. I recently ordered a trick and paid it via PayPal. I paid $5 more than the shop price to get it sooner (my favorite shop didn't have it in stock) thinking that in some way I am helping a creator. I got an invoice, without a tracking number. After two weeks and two emails, I've got a tracking number showing my package impossible to be delivered (wrong address?). I've asked for a refund, telling the seller he could keep the shipping costs but nonetheless I had to wait for the package to be fully returned back. I asked what was wrong with the package and I didn't get an answer but I got a full refund. Yes, if something goes wrong (I paid with Paypal so I thought that the postal label would come off of there...) you tend to get sub-par customer experience. What is the likelihood of that to happen? I don't know, I don't even know why my package did a full round-trip as of today. But yeah, I totally subscribe to the point. P.S. my favorite shop ended up getting in stock a few days after my order...

And.............
It's available in local shops!!!:( I ordered direct from Jon, and unfortuanatly the DVD issue has caused it to be taking longer. Not his fault, And... as a few have stated above, I actually did have to pay more than what Murphy's has it ($70). I paid $90.99 to include shipping... I feel as though I should have waited. |

What's the reset like? When strolling or table hopping, for example.

To me it more simple than that. You are merely putting another folded card in the box. Not much to hide there.

I know of no other dealer who would give a refund in this way. Brilliant Jon. Just brilliant.

Hi Guys,
I've been away for a few days but caught up on the thread. Yes, reset time is very quick. For me, I do it in between groups or tables as I'm looking to see which one I will go to next and how I will make my approach. It's really a non-issue. It's great to hear that your local dealers are finally able to stock Paragon 3D. With regards the refund... If I haven't had a chance to send it out before it becomes available at a local magic shop, surely only a money-grabbing *** wouldn't offer a refund so someone can get it cheaper from their local shop. I'm glad to hear from several reviewers that they have received theirs and that reviews are imminent. I'm hoping reviews will include reactions from non-magicians too as this is something that isn't always covered but is very important! If anyone has any questions, I'm only a few keystrokes away (depending me on the length of your question...)

Here's a review that was posted on my Facebook page:
I was excited when I first heard about paragon 3D. Finally, a clear box with a card inside that actually looks as it should(as it is), a box that you're left clean to hand out after and their folded card which is opened fairly and then given out straight away. When I heard all of this I thought "yea right, not going to be possible". I then found out it was from Jon Allen and I knew I was sold. There is some practise required here, don't think you can get it out the box straight away and start using it in live events, please, please give it the time and practise it deserves. I have been practising with it at home, for friends and family for the last few weeks but tonight was the night, the night I was going to use it and I couldn't wait! It didn't disappoint. The practise paid off, once you've covered your minor angle issues which is easily overcome and once you've got the tip out nailed you will be leaving those poor muffles in disbelief. I quote from about 95% of the people I performed this for. "No, no, I've had this in my hand the whole time, how can my card be inside. I don't like you, please tell me how. I'll pay you". (Don't worry Jon, no one offered enough for me to give out the secret) If you're after a walk around clear card to box and want it to be as clean as a kitchen owned by someone with OCD then this is the only option you need to consider.
