Hi Jheff:
I appreciate your Heads I Win, Tails You Lose that you published a year ago. It is the best treatment I have seen in print. Three questions come to mind. 1. How has your mind changed, even at a nuance or emphasis level, since you wrote that? 2. What, in the theory and practice of Equivoque, do people have trouble getting? 3. Whose else has come out with anything that contributes to the understanding? George |

Great to see you here, George. Thanks for participating.
First, I'm not sure if this qualifies as new thinking, but probably more a clarification or a new way at looking at the procedure. I realized that really all you need to know is how to verbally manipulate two or three items. In other words, four items is really two groups of two. So the first step is verbally manipulate two groups and then manipulate one group of two. With five, you have two groups, one with two and one with three. With six, you have two groups of three. With seven you have two groups of four and three. If four is chosen, then you're left with two groups of two. With eight, you have two groups of four. With nine, you have two groups of five and four. Each of these can be broken down into a group of two and three or two groups of two, depending upon which you want to manipulate the participant into choosing. It's kind of like of math factoring: between two and ten objects, you can factor down to two or three. I can't think of anything else right now, but I know there are a few tweaks and tidbits that I'll probably be including in the lecture at Mindvention in a few months. For the second question, I still have some who can't see, or are confused by, the importance of word choice. Semantics, to them, are not important, yet the whole modus operandi of verbal manipulation relies on the right word choice. Finally, since the book came out, I'm not aware of any other exploration of the topic. However, I believe I did neglect to mention in the book that Rick Maue's "The Final Picture" did have influence on my thinking on the subject. - Jheff

Reading chapter 6 was like finding the Holy Grail. A big epiphany that changes the whole game.
