Hi everybody, my name's Robert. I've been interested in magic for as long as I can remember, my uncle is a performing magician, he does birthdays and events in Miami. I am now 27 and after watching so many seasons of AGT (America's Got Talent) and the new season of P&T: F.U. I decided I'd learn a few tricks, so I looked up some YouTube videos and learned a couple basic tricks. I liked it enough to want to learn more and picked up Royal Road to Card Magic. I'm in the Coast Guard and I deploy for about 2 months at a time, and I'm hoping this new hobby will brighten up those nights of boredom. I am now hooked, I have been reading non-stop for about a month now trying to absorb more every day. I am happy to be here and look forward to interacting with you all.

Hey thanks for the tip, that really hadn't occured to me, I've been learning tricks as I learn new sleights, but a journal would definitely help. Still having issues with DL can't get the 2nd one without looking fumbly.

I am in the exact same place as you Robster! Influenced by AGT over the years and Fool Us. Dan Sperry was one of my favorite acts on AGT but his weirdness would never be voted through. He's with the illusionists group now touring.
It's nice to see another young adult (I'm 31) like myself jumping into it now. I'm freaking infatuated with it. Can't stop learning and practicing. My bit of advice is to find a local well know magician and get them to train/mentor you. I was lucky enough to starting lessons from Steve Lancaster here in Tulsa. He has learned from many greats in person like D. Vernon. Interesting idea on the book for notes too. I am logging things from my lessons and making videos of myself. Writing down possible routines but missing a good story at this point. |
