Hi,
This is probably the stupidest question asked for quite some time, but what kind of confetti does one use to throw in the air at the spur of the moment?
I think I saw Teller do this in the latest episode of FU if I remember correctly.

I can't imagine that a magician who throws confetti around, while strolling at a party or working tables at a restaurant, would be hired more than once by the venue.

Shirley Temple (I'm showing my age) sang "Animal Crackers in My Soup!:

I don't think that people would appreciate CONFETTI in their soup!

I disagree! In a "paid environment" this would of course not be suitable, but just for fun - VERY FUNNY!
I've even seen magicians use it and I think it comes across very lighthearted and just the correct amount of "over the top".

I'm just talking about a small handfull that you throw in the air..

But again, I know this is a very stupid question:)

You can make your own by cutting up paper or you can buy various types at a party store.

Use your own judgement. I can't see confetti ever at a restaurant but certainly it would be fine at some parties.

I recently booked a birthday party and after booking the mom emailed me that her husband wanted to make it clear that there was to be no confetti used. I never use confetti so it must have been the previous magician and perhaps he used bad judgement and that is why I got the show.

It is a pain for someone ELSE to clean up. Not a great way to make friends.

It is about good judgement. That comes from experience. Most experience comes from bad judgement. (If Will Rogers is to be believed.)

Remember the interview between the young "beginner magician", and the old successfully retired magician?

Young "magician": "How do you account for your success?"

Old magician: "Making the right decisions!"

YM: "How do you learn how to make the right decisions?"

OM: "Experience!"

YM: "How do you get experience?"

OM: "Making the wrong decisions!"

I can sure what you are tying to do. I think it could be used as a running joke if you were doing a close up show. I am not sure about for walk around.

Yes, it can be very funny.

I guarantee if you listen to every bit of magic advice you hear and don't go on instinct from time to time, you'll end up with a boring show.
Sounds like you're aware of the pros and cons. Be brave and do what you will!!!

I actually make 100% high grade professional confetti. This is the HIGHEST quality stuff used by the best magicians, clowns and Rip Taylor impersonators...but not Rip Taylor himself. $85 a pound, only available on days when I have to change the bag in my cross-cut shredder.
