On this day in 1787, forty brave men signed their names to one of the greatest documents in the history of the world...
The Constitution of the United States of America

Who would have thought that exactly 228 years later, it would be landmark's birthday?

Happy birthday!

Thanks.
I always liked this about my birthday, that it was The Constitution's birthday. A giant step forward in the evolution of political and social rights, in my opinion, but a mistake, I think, if we treat it as the endpoint.

Thanks for the birthday wishes all. I don't feel a day over ninety.
As for my endpoint, it's always democracy. Now I know lots of people are going to tell me that the US was founded as a republic and not a democracy. Yes, I'm aware of that. My endpoint is still democracy.

But looking at your picture, it seems as if it's really two kitties and a bear.
I for one, welcome our new Kitten Overlords. The present situation is one in which Megacorp (a division of WorldWide Capital) makes all the major decisions for us, dinner and otherwise.

Certainly a landmark document and event, but "brave men"? They may well have been, but not for signing that document.
The signers of the Declaration of Independence were putting more at risk than those who signed the Constitution. By the time the Constitution was signed, independence was won and they were formalizing how the new government would be operated. |

I'd recommend starting at 31:00 or so if you're pressed for time.
