I was in Los Angeles this past weekend in order to compete in the finals of an international burlesque and variety competition. I was only supposed to compete in the Amazement and Comedy Category. I got a call the day before the shows and was told that the 1st place Best Act had to drop out unexpectedly, and as the 2nd place Best Act from my regionals I would be asked to take her place. They would move my magic act from the Amazement category to the Best Act, and could I please perform a different set in the amazement category the following night.
I had only brought the one effect, and my next best effect is a tossed out deck with some special custom work in it. Not an effect that can just be picked up anywhere, and constructing a new one from purchased materials at a wal-mart or target would have been prohibitive expensive on short notice. A quick trip to The Magic Apple and an explanation of the situation and everything was set. The staff very helpfully put together my custom deck and even threw in a couple of big thick rubber bands so I wouldn't have to go to an office supply store. Not only that, it was exceptionally affordable. I finished the weekend with a very unexpected 3rd place overall in the Best Act category and took first place winning the Master of Comedy title. Couldn't have done it without the brilliant folks at The Magic Apple. You are the finest magic shop I have ever had the opportunity to spend money at in a blind panic a few hours before a show.
This is the profile of Comedian + Magician Erik Tait. A self-promoting sleight of hand artist who thinks he is the cat's meow.

The Magic Apple folks are wonderful. They always seem to have all the patience in the world with every customer who comes in.
I try to get by there whenever I am in LA, which is not often enough.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...
