Does anyone know if there is such a thing as remote-controlled Copentro (4 coin version) or something similar?
Thanks for your help! Lou |

I only know Collector's Workshop made a version years ago on a silver tray, it was mechanical, but I don't remember if it was remote controlled.
There is Robot Coins, I know that is not remote controlled, but uses timing for the drop of each coin. http://www.tricksupply.com/Flying-Fiftie.......378.htm As far as Copentro, I never heard of remote controlled version. |

Thanks Bill. I'm looking for a remote controlled coins under glass. Maybe there isn't one yet, but ready to be designed. 😊

Could be, I have said this before, and the next day an add appears.
That leads me to post as I do, notice I did not say there is none, just that I never heard or know of any. Trick Supply currently shows 3 different versions of Copentro, none electronic. John Kennedy has a one or two coin version (not clearly stated) coins in glass called Flight Deck, similar to Robot Coins, which is the closest thing to electronic delivery thus far. Magician does not touch the glass, and the spectator can hold the glass with deck of cards on top. |

Illusions & Reality:
You ask a good question! I'm assuming that the question you ask focuses on whether or not there is a "Visible, Remote-Controllled Coins to Glass" and not necessarily, or specifically the EXACT Copentro coins to glass, per se... If so....you have more options, available.... The ORIGINAL BOB KLINE COPENTRO was manually controlled by the performer and depended upon vanishing half dollars, one by one from a coin stand, and shortly after you made each coin vanish they VISIBLY and AUDIBLY appeared in a shot glass covered by an inverted clear glass tumbler in a small circular stand, held by the performer. The ILLUSION of the coins vanishing from thin air then appearing in the glass was "Sold" by the acting and timing ability of the performer. Jack Hughes came out with a version called "Visible Coins to Glass". This was indeed VERY similar to Copentro except that the stand was black with gold trim versus Copentro's plain wood finish and the rights for manufacturing the prop and marketing it went to Abbott's. They may still carry the trick. Slightly different versions of the same "EFFECT" were marketed as Robot Coins by Mart Schwartz and made and sold by Tannens Magic in New York and CW Coin Classic by Collector's Workshop. Both of these versions use two tumblers, one on top of the other, and between the tumbers is a card box. Both of these versions rely entirely on timing once the interior "special somethings" are put into play. I have had all of these versions, and although all four versions are good and create the same EFFECT, I reccomend the CW Coin Classic..........they even tell you on the prop what the "timing" of each coin "drop" is. Once you have the timing down pat and you know this from practicing the trick and its timing.....you're in business, and, in my opinion, you have the exact same effect as Copentro with the following substantial advantages: 1. No GLASS tumblers to break onstage 2. No remote control to worry about going wrong at exactly the worst time. 3. You do not have to either hold the tumblers, touch them at all or be anywhere near them when the coins "Travel". In my opinion, this makes the "Magical Moments" STRONGER. 4. Because of 1., 2., and 3. above, you're able to be more confidant onstage and thus entirely focus on your presentation. I have learned the hard way to AVOID remote control whenever possible. Just my 2 cents worth. |

The closest I can think of is the late El Duco's automated Isolated Gold. It is basically a one-shot version of the four-shot Copentro, but with a borrowed ring. The ring appears inside of a glass goblet on a base, covered by a glass dome ( https://www.martinsmagic.com/allmagic/st......os-magic ). He originally put it out as a manually operated prop, and then re-released it as an electronically fired prop. You may be able to find one on an auction.
Not Copentro, but it's all I got.

Thanks for all of the input. I didn't think that there was one out there, but I thought that I'd ask.

Jolyon Jenkins (Magi-tronic Magic) and Professor Spellbinder were discussing a possible solution for a radio controlled new principle that Jolyon discovered recently and that possibly could be used in a radio controlled Copentro. If Jolyon's tinkering produces a solution, I'll come back here and brag about it... I knew them when.

This product has definitely been made by someone somewhere in the past. I know this for sure as years ago worked with a close up magician who was using one. It was a corporate gig for about 25-30 people... I was doing the cabaret and he was doing close up. He set the small glass, with the bigger glass inverted over it, on it's small tray on a table at the end of the room... vanished the coins one at a time (not using the stand) while at the table... and the coins appeared visually and audibly in the small glass as he traced their invisible flight from his hands across the room to the prop.
This would have been in the early 1990s. If I see the magician around somertime I'll ask him where he got it... but I tend to only see him once every three years or so... so don't hold your breath waiting!

Collectors Workshop created two versions. Both featured a silver tray. One was mechanical and one was remote controlled. I don’t think they manufacture them any more - but I have seen them show up on the used market from time to time.

Hi Shawn,
How many coins does the remote CW version do? How reliable is it? Thanks! Lou |

Collectors Workshop's Silver Odyssey II, remote controlled version, uses 4 coins. It is rather reliable if it is oiled, level, and the batteries are replaced often. I recommend a small T level to verify that it is level before use. I have heard rumors that David Copperfield had one rebuilt special to make it more reliable.

Even with the famous Kline model, I found that this could be true. If you do not hold it straight, the coin will not land in the whiskey glass. When it happened to me, I just recognized it, and chalked it up to learning how to handle and operate the apparatus. Although, it was not as "touchy" as Keith mentioned. Don't have to carry a level or attach one to my hand. I was holding like at a 30 degree angle.
I never performed it on a show, for the simple fact, I felt it is best presented with an assistant holding the glasses and base. A good assistant can make each coin arrival much more dramatic with just an arm movement and pointing, or even a surprise look on her face to out the coins arrival. It also frees the performer to make each vanish more interesting in his hand maneuvers. I always wish they would make a model of this in dollar size coins. This reminds me of Richard Ross's coin in glass he showed on his lecture video from Stevens magic. No stand, just a glass an some electronics and an off stage or hidden setup behind an object or below the table on a shelf. Way more magical, and fooled the heck out you even though it was on video, because you never think, a magician would fool you with hidden devices. This was a demonstration only, no info on how it was made. He only put the video camera on the device. I guess we just all want to believe. |

Here is an "overseas" remote controlled version... I know nothing about it however.

I would be quite hesitant to buy these overseas products for several reasons.

I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole, or magic wand. God knows what you'll be getting and how long it will last. Scratch that. I don't even think God would know.

Again I only posted it because it was felt there was not any option... Is not a reccommendation... Hence my quotes around overseas.
