Hi guys,
Just thought I’d give a shout out to my fellow Singaporean performer and her book, “Who is Magic Babe Ning?” I’ve known Ning Cai from way back before she transformed into “Magic Babe”, taking Singapore and the world on a 10 year magic roller coaster ride. In that time, she elevated magic in the minds of Singaporeans, and raised it to a new level of awareness that it hasn’t had before. In fact, in about half of the professional gigs that I worked at, apart from the usual “How long have you been doing magic?” and “Do you do this full time?” questions that I always got, was the question “Do you know Magic Babe Ning?” In this book, Ning reveals how she went from being an ordinary girl, to gracing the covers of magazines, to performing her brand of sexy magic on the international scene as Asia's top female celebrity magician. Learn of her challenges of being in an industry that is usually dominated by men, and her struggles as well as her successes on stage and off. This is the true life story of the real woman behind Magic Babe. http://www.murphysmagic.com/product.aspx?id=55456 ~ Nique

I too have the book and it's pretty cool. I liked it. (Mine is a signed copy. Wheee!)
As the the title suggests, it's a Magical biography of Magic Babe Ning's career. Starts from the beginning till the end. It talks about her journey, her ups and her downs and more. It gets very personal and does cover some important magical parts of her life. Grab the book if you want an insight to what's it like to be in her shoes (or straight jacket)! It's an interesting perspective and it's not all about magic. |

I have been a fan on Nings for some time and watched her career go from strength to strength over the years- she has pushed the boundaries of magic and achieved a lot of great things in her magical career - to the point of becoming a celebrity in Singapore. The book is such a great insight and particularly from a female's perspective in this male dominated business. Anytime somebody has achieved success and is willing to share their story is a must read for us all. Do yourselves a favour and get this book!

Ning has been the biggest inspiration to me as a female magician. Not only has she been extremely helpful and within reach to her fellow performers and fans, but she has led her life & career in an exemplary fashion that every performer should aspire to. I just ordered my book today and can't wait to dive in to it.
Whenever people tell me there are no famous/ rolemodel female magicians I say "You don't know NING!!!" Do yourself a favor and order this book. |

I'll be picking this up for sure. I feel that it's a really useful practice to read about the trials that any performer has endured and overcome. Ning has reached a level of success in her magic that very few of us will; thus no doubt providing inspiration in this autobiography too!

Who is Magic babe Ning?
She is wonderful, smart, enthusiastic, artistic, curious, creative, genuine, loyal, humble, loves food, travel and great ideas and has fantastic taste in friends. She's an ever evolving artist who actively supports and encourages everyone she meets.a renaissance woman with a growing circle of admirers from many fields and disciplines. Buy her book and get to know someone very special. Yes, I'm biased. You will be too. P |

I too am very biased because I know Ning and I know how awesome she is
I also have a trick of my own in the book Aside from the fact that she is sexy, smart, talented (and great magic tricks in the book), it's just a really good story. You'll be inspired by her drive, passion and most importantly her ability to be herself. Highly recommended for anyone!!!

I maybe a little bias here. Afterall I count Ning as my mentor, worked with her and regard her as my big sister. I have seen her grow from strength to strength and still I learnt many things from her book. As a female magician she is a great inspiration and personally knowing her just made it more amazing.
It goes beyond magic as you grow with her on her journey on being true to herself. It is an inspirational read for sure!! |

I have had the great fortune to read Ning's book. It is a treasure trove of wisdom and experience. Her writing is very accessible, genuine, and insightful. I only know Ning from being a huge fan -- I wish I could meet her in person -- but I can say that I feel like I know her much better. But, her book is more than an autobiography or memoir. It is also a highly entertaining and useful read for anyone interested in the magical and performing arts. I really enjoyed this book, and I think you will too!

If you liked David Blaine's "Mysterious Stranger" you'll enjoy this - it's a great read by one of contemporary magic's most unique personalities. Anyone who has seen one of Ning's dynamic performances will have even more respect for her after knowing the story behind the public image. I wonder what it would take to tempt her back onto the stage?

Maybe you are all blinded by an Association, image, PR, cleavage or the hyped up marketing.
Confusing image over actual talent? Ning is just a sexy girl doing ok magic. Certainly nothing ground breaking. I'm sure she is a nice sweet person but I haven't seen any video of her and Jc that made me go wow. Unless someone can share something here that will change my mind! I am open to be change if anyone can convince me. |

How did Ning became a successful performer, a world traveler and a writer? She's curious, positive, and motivated. These qualities will make you want to know more about her journey, so follow her real-life adventures in her books and discover who's behind the famous magician that she is.

She sounds like a lovely person however I do hope young girls who want to perform magic realise that it can be done in ways other then
using all the 'sexy babe' clichés.

Markymark is correct - magic is a vast artscape ready to be populated by many different characters and personas. The fascinating part about Ning's book is not the character she assumed, but the reasoning behind the choices. This is a rare book where the artist truly opens their life in a way that most magicians would never dare to. It's not about a performer immersed in the world of magic, but one who is open to other disciplines and incorporated those into her art as well.
What is most interesting to me is the fact that the book ends as she retires, but her retirement signals the launch of her career as a more rounded personality.. a "celebrity" if you like... who is now courted by the the media and called on to attend A list events as... Ning. The "sexy babe" role served it's purpose and now she has moved on to a new phase. She has done what most in our industry fail to do and that is evolve with the times. Reading her story is very eye opening and truly worthwhile.
