Those who are looking for popularity are only deceiving themselves...
the irony... magicians whose work is based on deception there's nothing better to heard the truth even if it upsets you... but then comes maturity. |

Ok, Sorry guys, I was a bit too quick when I gave it a decent review. That was just right after opening the box.
After watching the dvd and using my gimmick I have to say that this is one of the worst things that I have bought in a long time. The effect looks like crap close up. First of all, the craftsmanship is not very high, I do not wish to expose the method, so all I can say is that some parts of the gimmick was not as good as it could have been which results in that you can glimpse a smal part of the red card that the blue card will change into before it changes. So it is rather useless. Anyways, due to the nature of the gimmick, I still think it would look like crap close up. For drunk people in the street in bad lightning it will be fine if you move it around, but for intelligent, observant spectators? No way. The gimmick also makes a LOUD click noise when the card changes. CLIIIIICK!!! Which removes about 99.9999999% of the magic. The gimmick will also wear out fast if you plan to use it a lot, which I guess most people won't, because it looks like crap. Anyways, If you would, it will get worn out quite fast and the change will start to look even worse than before. I would be fine with that if it was a part of a bigger project or if it would have cost 10 bucks, but for 30? Nah. With so much good magic on the market with so much more value, I would say, stay away from this one. |

I am actually now using this but I'm using the very basic change without any twist / revolutions.
It works and looks great and is very easy to do. I don't like the versions that require the very specific hand placement and also result in the click already mentioned. The very simple and basic version I like a lot and will work for me and is silent. The variations shown remind me a bit of Extreme Burn where there are various shown but I only like one of them. I'll be performing my preferred handling on our next review show, this is by no means a turkey.

It's not an MoM product and I've no 'horse in the race' for this trick over any of the 20,000+ others listed on MoM, but I think there's a bit of trolling happening on this thread that really isn't fair to Jordon Victoria. Maybe because Sansmind produced it for him? This gets demed in the shop, and people usually buy it after seeing it. That really should be noted if you see anyone 'reviewing' a trick before they owned it.. Just saying....

Many magicians and dealers have (or had in my case) other careers too. No point trying to discredit me here Dominic, my opinion about Travel was on the money given punter feedback so far. No trolling here, I guess you're just annoyed that the hype you started doesn't live up to the reality based on genuine punter comments so far. Your original post on this thread gave the impression that Travel is great "The visuals look amazing, and it's the sort of quick, eye candy that's a gem in busy walk-around conditions", however, I gave a more balanced view about sound issues and the visuals looking better in the video than the real world. Just saying what I thought based on many years experience in the game. Looks like most who actually bought it agree with me. No hard feelings, just the way things turned out.

Hi Tony
No, not trying to discredit you at all. I'm just interested as I didn't know you were a dealer. I thought you were a teacher, specifically on marketing. I'm showing an interest because, as you know, I've invited you onto the MoM podcast to talk about marketing etc.. I do completely disagree with your opinion on this item, but each to their own. some people love Travel, some don't.. if there was a trick that EVERYBOBY loved, most dealers would be rich and eventually everyone would start hating the trick because it was too over used I really like Travel, and I must confess I was surprised at the negative review you gave it. As it was based on just from watching the trailer, I thought it was just playful trolling. I'm glad I was wrong then as I do think highly of you and wish you well. I think it is helpful to mention that on a small thread like this, it's easy to get an false impression of feedback. Sometimes you get a few people that have a negative experience or that have jumped to an assumtion before trying the item. If they are posting often, that can colour the tone of the thread for casual readers. It's always worth having that in mind when on the Café. Which magic shop/trading name did you go by? We MUST have done business together at some point over the last few decades. wishing you the best as always Dominic

To be honest tony, it does look like your trolling this thread. You do not own the product so cant really give a review and you have no interest in purchasing it, so what is the point of you being on this thread other than boasting about how you used to such a great dealer for over 50 years! I'm sure people don't care tony.....

To be fair to the creator of this trick, it is not the idea behind the trick that is that bad, it is the final product, produced by Sans Minds, that in my opinion is really bad.
30 bucks for one quick trick where you get ONE poorly made gimmick that will get worn out quickly is way way to much. Cons: -The gimmick looks like crap close up, there is no way that a spectator can look at it close-up without noticing that something is "off" about it. Due to the nature of the gimmick, this will be the case even if the gimmick I got was "perfect". - Even when the gimmick is folded right before the change takes place, it does not seem like that much care went into producing the gimmicks. I took a look at one of my friends gimmick as well yesterday and both mine and his is not aligned perfectly in more than one way which makes the gimmick hard to use in the real world. - Yes, you get some extra stuff so that you can repair the gimmick and you will have to because it will get worn out quite fast if you play around with it and the change will start to look really bad after a while. I would be fine with that if if was a part of a bigger project or something, but it is not, it is a single trick dvd for 30 bucks. - It makes a LOUD noise, which just takes away from the magic. It sounds like something happened. It might fly by drunk people but a skeptical audience will want to look at it and they can not. - It does not look as good as in the trailer. I was going to make a short video and send to one of my friend. But close up, my iphone 6 plus camera was way too "HD" so you could clearly see what was happening. - It does not look as good as in the trailer. Pros: - The dvd is well produced, as always with Sand Minds. I am not a Sans minds basher, I do think they have released some amazing products. On/Off is a impromptu miracle that is almost to good to be true, it is pure genius. Their Worker series also has some AMAZING card magic on it. But they should take better care of their brand name because some of the material that they release is just pure impractical crap. |

I have bashed Sansminds plenty in the past but this time the criticism is not justified.
The gimmick is made of a card and due to the way it is handles it will wear out and I would say would last no longer than a few weeks if you were to use it a lot. The upside is they supplied a gimmick ready made and you can make a new one in less than 5 minutes. Supplying mass produced gimmicks is hard to do to get every one 100% correct, but with something a simple as this use the one you get to practice with if yours is off a little and make another. Your dealer would of course replace it if you wished but would it be worth the waiting etc? The gimmick is also not meant to be looked really close up, neither is it meant to be examined, it looks just fine in performance, of course if you post a still photo of it it's not going to look good, you also need to watch the angles so you don't flash colours at the wrong time but this is just understanding how this looks and works. The basic handling I have already mentioned does not produce any noise at all it you are worried about that so there is a handling for most performing conditions. As far as value goes because of the ready made gimmick it is ok, many times people complain they have to make something on a release that's a lot cheaper, but then they complain they could make something in 5 minutes on a more expensive release with a gimmick. It shows shows you can't please everyone but I like it when the gimmick comes with it so you can play right away.
