Received mine, this week, as well.
A few things that will need tweaking, but overall lots of promise. e |

Jack, thanks for explaining the purpose of the blank tiles. They weren't mentioned in the tutorial but your answer does makes sense.

I had an interesting conversation with a very well known longtime pro who we all know and who never visits the Café.
He was not too wild about many aspects of this release and the methodology used. The person wasn't MM - you but let's just say that' I agreed with his take. The tray used especially makes no sense and he said that that it seemed to be based on an old gimmick used for coins. But what was the rationalization for the necessity of it? I have this arriving next week to look it over but I'm just not sold on this being the cat's meow.

Sometimes we don't know how these details will be perceived by audience members until we actually get out there and work the routines a few times. Many details in magic and especially mentalism don't make sense but if you perform them confidentially most go unnoticed. I'm not going to get hung up about the plastic stand until I've actually worked the routine. If an adjustment is necessary than I'll make it.

Hey friends!
I recently ran into Francis in Philly while I was performing and I asked him for an impromptu interview to answer some of the questions you guys have about Wordsmyth Hope this helps any questions you may have! -Kyle

I purchased a copy of Wordsmyth and I find it a top notch magic product.
A nice collection of utility props and you get to peek inside the mind of Mr. Menotti. His routine is brilliant and so perfect for him that it will inspire you to create your own. The props are so simply perfect including a very nifty gaffed bit that I predict Tenyo will lust after! This is a wonderful classy everyman's mentalist effect packaged with style. One of the best releases of the year. |

I received my copy yesterday and only opened it this morning and quickly looked at the props (as I was enjoying myself playing with FOBULOUS that came yesterday as well). With a quick glance I can say my initial thoughts are I like what I received. I do not see a problem with the looks of the tray or the pencil as they will serve their purpose perfectly. When you are in the heat of the performance no one will notice anything with these props. I will watch the DVD later and post my thoughts.

Finally watched the DVD last night. The DVD is good quality and everything is well explained by Francis. The workings of the routine are very easy allowing you to concentrate on the presentation. Francis does lay out a little psychology behind the patter he uses which is nice. My thoughts are that for $50.00 this is a very good deal for what you receive. If you like what you see I would say buy this. It's nice to have an effect that you can easily plug in quickly in which the mechanics of the routine are simple enough allowing full focus on your presentation. Word Smyth definitely fits that description. I am very happy with this purchase!

Can anyone recommend where to buy a paperback style Dictionary
I have a large hardback one which is not really practical Really pleased with this but still can't quite work out how it fooled P&T |

I bought a used scrabble dictionary on eBay for a couple of pounds but I now kinda wished I'd gone to my local bookstore first and looked through some dictionaries there as although the one I have will work I could have wished for a better placement of a certain item!
Agree that the product is great. I had anticipated pretty well what I was going to receive and I'm very happy with what I've got. I certainly couldn't make it easily myself but I too am surprised that Penn and Teller couldn't work this one out! |

Performed this last night for a small cabaret audience. I think the bag works well, the pencil too. The only problem I had was a practical one of keeping the letters on the tray which seems quite slippery. Move too fast and you end up with a couple of letters on the floor! No big deal but I'll experiment with some double sided tape I think before next time. Other than that a great effect.
I too am in the market for refills for a different word as I'm back to the same venue in a couple of months time. A word not too far away from the original one could work quite well - so that only a few tiles need replacing/removing. |

I just took the plunge and ordered via Saturn Magic.
Can't wait - it's just like Christmas!
