Larry Wilson is passionate. He loves magic and his family and the library.
What? The library? Yes, the library. It is a long story but his son told him about the plight of the local library in Reno, Nevada that was having its hours and funding cut. So, Larry did something about it. He formed a non-profit group to raise funds and awareness for the local library. Last year he produced "Spellbinders" magic festival that was sponsored by local businesses and enjoyed by 3,000 locals. He provided not only money, but free shows that featured some of the top professional magicians. This year he is doing it again on October 20-24 and hopes to make it even bigger with the addition of crowd funding and more help from his friends. They will again offer FREE public shows featuring this year: Lennart Green, Bob Sheets, Shoot Ogawa, Richard Turner, Stephen Bargatze, Jade, Christopher Hart, James Dimmare, Kyle and Mystie Knight, Rob Zabrecky and Larry Wilson. In this week's podcast, Larry talks about the upcoming Festival but first we have a rather deep discussion about comedy magic on stage and television, scripting new material versus keep using older jokes, and much, much more.
