Yea, it's just always the same question... if it's worth to pay the same price again just for an extra piece of handling, because you already bought the main effect. So it's always sad to "pay the double" to be on the same level than the people who just buy the second version, but I guess I will give it a try |

Are we talking expert origami to produce the gimmicks, and also during the effect itself? I hate art and crafts.

Do you think it would be possible to carry a card with gimmick in your wallet until the right opportunity presents itself?

I am curious as I'm not familiar with the original publishing of this effect; can this only be done with face cards? Every performance I've seen uses a face card.

The best part about that full performance video is the look on that guys face that has the behind the performer viewpoint of the actual linking process. So I'd say the angles are pretty darn good. It would have looked better if he actually showed them completely separate just before the linking but I guess that's a limitation of the effect.
Pick a card, any card at all. Just don't pick a RED spade.

I was a little disappointed at the in enormous amount of set up for each performance it's very impractical and I thought it was pricey for what it was.

I gave in and purchased the download. A few things to note:
-My question about using face cards is not addressed at all in the download, yet during the prep process and every performance, a face card is used. I can't think of a benefit to this currently, but I admit that I have yet to construct what is required. -As for practicality, I rate it reasonable. I don't think the preparation is all that obscene as far as difficulty or time spent is concerned. The prep requires doing something that can be slightly knacky, so if you haven't done it before you will likely burn through a couple cards practicing. With moderate crowd handling skills and the proper presentation, I think it is definitely a practical and really cool effect. However, the prep and practicality isn't such that you can table hop and do this every table in my opinion. -The instruction itself is fine but there is one camera angle during the instruction for how to prep, and it is not all that close up. Some close ups and variation on the angle would have been nice as you can't see some of the fine details of the prep which would be useful. Overall I'm happy with the download, but for the $20 price tag I wish there would have been a little bit more to the video. |

So If you use a double back card they already think that this is no standard playing card. Neither I would use a number card, because the secret is better to hide on a face card. The tutorial on how to make the cards was good, I just wished me another slowly performance with explanation, because he just rushed over the performance while he was creating the gimmick and I believe that many people will have problems with the secret move there because it wasn't that well to see. |

I can't remember who originally brought the linking cards routine to market some years ago now but I just remembered it being very time consuming, and fiddly in front of the spec, which put me off Purchasing, and also this one.

That's not a big deal in my opinion because if you use stuff like the Vapr, the Raven... you need that 5 mins to adjust the things to your body everytime too and it's worth the effect. Yes it's a bit fiddly but you shouldn't forget that you want to do something impossible and hand it out after the trick. As long as you can't do it with real magic, there must be anything fiddly to link them and as long you can hand it out after the trick and give it the spectator as a souvenir I guess it's worth it. Normally it's enough misdirection for you to do all the dirty moves hidden, but even if they see some weird movements, when you give them the SIGNED & LINKED cards after the trick and they see that there are no slits or cuts they just think they saw anything that didn't happened. |

Comparing the trailer to the full performance, the moment of the link in the trailer is slick, effortless and smooth and it almost looks like one card melts through the other.
However, in the full performance it looks like he is forcefully dragging the cards through each other, it looks nowhere near as smooth. Can this be performed as smoothly in the real world as in the demo? Or did Ellusionist perhaps use a card with a simple slit in it to make it look better in the demo? I wouldn't put it past them! |

This is the kind of thing that's perfect to do with all those used cards you get left over with. I#m looking forward to trying it.
I watched the video last night for the first time, there are a couple of bits that were a little unclear to me, and I agree it could have benefited from a few close up shots. That said Ben is very approachable on Facebook and answered my questions. It might also have been better for me to work through making one while watching. Rob |

It certainly is not for a professional work or doing strolling or table hopping. But if you plan on using it once or twice here in there it could be very strong. There are others out there that are very similar and even easier to make, but still take quite a bit of time cutting and gluing. In my opinion this is overpriced . I would not recommend it I wish I could get my money back.

Yes it is the prep work. I understand that we all have a fix that require work for specific venues. I feel this one is not worth the effort for me. That doesn't mean it's not perfect for you and it just may be. And my strolling gigs I could see 2530 people at night that's an off a lot of work. Where I have other effects that are more suitable for my type of gigs. This is just my personal feeling. I think if I others like the premise that should give it a shot.
