The "Shinning" was horrifying. Wasn't that the film where that guy was stranded in that huge lodge in the middle of winter, and kept having a ghost kick him in the shins. Very scary.

The Shining (saw this when I was a mite too young, also the Rebecca De Mornay one is closer to the book)

I thought I was the only one who had seen the second make of The Shining - which I thought was much better, Jack Nicholson notwithstanding. Shelly Duvall came real close to ruining the whole movie for me. No wonder the Hotel ghosts were so annoyed - that woman cannot act.
