So I bought this dvd and have now had a chance to view it. I must say, pretty much all but two routines I will probably end up performing at some point.
The Devil Makes Three - The performance is linked above on youtube. This is by far the most difficult routine on the dvd, but with some practice and possibly some changes, I will be using this. I really liked the pace and presentation of this routine. It just seems so fair. Coming Up - This is an impromptu rising card. I have played around with this, but don't know if I will perform it yet, as I think angles might make it an issue table hopping. Boxing Match - A deck is shuffled by the spectator and then you place it in its card box. A different colored deck is opened and a card selected. Now from the first boxed shuffled deck you visually pluck their selection from the boxed deck. This is great if you work behind a bar or from a case, but would probably not be for you if strolling as it requires two decks. Mike's Two-Cents - Similar to Coin on Call (http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/5991), you propose that you are going to use suggestion to make them remember incorrectly the identity of a coin. You end with the picture on their phone being different than what they thought it would be, and two examinable coins. This one is great. Open To Change - This is similar to Mike's Two-Cents, but uses a card and cash instead of coins. He created this as a way to do something similar to Mike's Two-Cents for repeat patrons. I think this is just as strong if not stronger to Mike's Two-Cents, and the thinking behind this is awesome. This effect has a lot going for it. Open prediction, betting money, magician in trouble, and a photo souvenir on their phone. Shaken Not Stirred - This is the other one on the dvd that I will not use, at least not exactly as shown. It is a two deck triumph routine using a cocktail shaker. If you are a bar magician, this would be great for you. For strolling magicians, this is obviously not something you are going to use. Flying Sandwich - Another nice effect that would work for table hopping. I don't want to give too much away, but basically you do a sandwich effect where they expect their selection to end up in your half of the deck but the sandwich ends up in their half of the deck instead. Kind of like a kickback routine. Not a lot of material on this dvd will work for strolling, but if you are a table hopper, bar magician, or do small parlor shows I think you will find material you can use. In the day and age of single trick dvd being release every week, it was nice to get a dvd with multiple trick on it. It was especially nice to find that the material is workable and that I can use several of the routines. Recommended.

I've had a chance to watch Mike perform his Devil Makes Three routine at the castle more than a few times by now. And every time it looks just as good as the first. Its most interesting to see the reactions from the laymen as each coin appears and just simply melts away from one hand to the next.
I've watched the DVD at least 12 times by now from start to end. I don't have the required gimmick needed for TDMT however I've practiced instead certain key moves with my set of coins. I use the same kind of coins as in the effect, but I've used them for a "Crowded Coins" I regularly perform. Anyhow I'll say out right, this is not supposed to be an easy flare of a trick. This is real state of the art sleight of hand mixed with other key workings that have been so well thought out its no wonder when it is performed as good as Mike P...the sheer gasps from the crowd will have made the effect pay for itself. If your willing to really put in the time and look at this as something to literally be practicing for pretty much the rest of your life. Then this effect is for you. But perhaps your looking for something much easier and have no interest in truly grasping A grade magician skills--then perhaps you're better off looking elsewhere. I know Mike, I've witnessed these effects performed in the real world (granted it was in the Magic Castle), it still fried the hell out of people drunk and sober, no further than 5 feet from their faces. I would agree TDMT is the ballad song on this album of magic, the other effects are unique routines perhaps not as popular as TDMT, but don't let that stand in your way of giving this DVD a solid college try, see for yourself. For me I was the first person in line who bought this fine piece of magic artistry DVD. I for one plan on taking the time to really grasp what is being taught on this disc, TDMT appears to be the kind of magic that can only happen in the movies, but this stuff is for real. Hats off too Mike P for sharing this gem of coin work.

I only just discovered this absolute gem of a DVD. Cannot believe there is not more discussion of the high quality material and presentations Mike brings to the table as a close up performer. One of the best performers I have seen in the last 10 years.

Me and my family walked down the stairs of the castle and into Mike's lair.
An unassuming man asked us what we were drinking, and made us each an excellent drink. He then asked if we'd like to see some magic. We proceeded to watch the best close up show I've ever seen in the castle. It was smooth, charming, and baffling everything you'd want a magic show to be. Coins popped into existence, before melting away. Lemons appeared. Thought of cards were found. It was incredible. We were thrilled. He doesn't release nearly enough material, and doesn't always get the recognition he deserves, but Mr. Pisciotta is one of the greats for sure. His Penguin Lecture is worth a viewing too. Highly recommended .
We should all be in a constant state of wonder

I just have to give this one more plug after having added a few of these gems to my repertoire.....
Mike's close up magic is amongst the strongest and most entertaining in the world today!! Anyone looking for something high quality that is fresh and off the beaten track, this is it. Just watching this man perform will improve and inspire your own magic. After many viewings and a lot of learning, this now ranks close to the best close up magic DVD I have ever purchased.
