Used bill changes for years and still do.
Will most likely get this as it's another addition. It makes no difference at all that it can't be handed out(not that anyone has brought this up. Like the visuals on this alot. Mike Donoghue |

I watched the video again I now see the fade of the bill ! I thought the face of the bill just went blank. The fade is really neat does the bill lock after the final change ? M****t.

I have Bill Breaker and this is basically the same with the exception that the gimmick is pre-made and also that the money is fake. I didn't get a good enough look on the video to see how real it looks though. I've made a few different variations of Bill Breaker for myself and I can't see why I would want Canvas. (That is me personally - others may love it regardless of owning Bill Breaker).
With regard to European bills I would say that British bills are out since different denominations are also different sizes. Additionally, I don’t know how well plastic bills would work. The bills used must be pretty darn flexible. Also, you can't be too close to your audience with Bill Breaker because the gimmick's thickness is definitely noticeable if seen stationary and up close. I keep mine moving throughout the relatively fast routine to prevent that. Canvas may be significantly thinner since it is preprinted and pre-made. Those who already own Bill Breaker probably know already whether or not they would want this one too. Jim |

I agree with J-mac here Bill breaker is the Real Deal real bills I paid 11.00 for Bill breaker on the café last year . I made up a fake 100.00 bill for this trick . Just my opinion but I think the Fade bill with Canvas is a give away to the spectator a Gimmick is involved Not Real Magic ! Bill Breaker gives you that sense of a real bill change MAGIC ! 45.00 not for me .....

One thing about this that hasn't been mentioned yet is how thin the gimmick is. The entire gimmick is a thick as a single bill. Personally I have my own change that I created independently years ago that is very similar to bill breaker and canvass, so I might not pick this up, however the fact that it's pre made and thin is a big selling point imo. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned changes if you ask me

I would have updated this thread about this trick, however I ordered it on the 3rd, it is now ten days later and I still don't have it. Not only that, it has somehow been lost and is now in Georgia. I live in Colorado. It flew right over me and all the way across the US. I'll opt of the free shipping next time...

So I've had this for a little bit now, and here is my take on it:
This was made for TV. The instructions talk about this right off the bat and when you look at the bill in the light, it is evident that this probably isn't going to work in a well lit situation with a close spectator. This wasn't mentioned in the Ad copy. With that said, the pre-made gimmick looks pretty convincing from a few feet away and looks amazing on a smart phone camera. This is something that would be great for a promo reel. When I first got it, the gimmick looked great and performed as it is supposed to. There are a few knacky moves to get down but overall it isn't a difficult trick to perform/practice. Now here is the issue I am having: My gimmick is falling apart after practicing it 20 times or so. The adhesive is coming apart in areas that are vital to the effect. I think if you wanted to do this in person as a normal effect, you would have to engineer your own gimmick out of real bills. The paper this is printed on is not going to withstand the use of constant performing. Also a better adhesive would have to be found/used. I have my own bill change effect I have been working on for years and the main reason I bought this was to see if any of its methods would help me solve some of the problems I have with my own and I think this has inspired me and pushed my mind in the right direction. For that reason, I enjoy it. I like practicing it in the mirror and I put it up on instagram and people dug it there as well. At the end of the day this isn't something I could see always carrying on me. |

I have this and I like it a lot. The paper feels close to real money. It is very easy to do - 10 minutes of practice in front of a mirror and you'll have this down. The accompanying DVD explains things well, with both front and over-the-shoulder shots. Also comes with a link to bonus material. The one concern, as Benmorrisrains points out, is you just have to make sure you don't perform with bright light behind you (front is fine).

Im not asking for any exposure, but I am trying to understand the difference between Canvas and Bill Breaker. I saw that Canvas is a thinner gimmick, but that's because its not using real currency. If one remade the gimmick in real currency what are the differences to BB in terms of handling, spectator scrutiny, performance conditions? From the promo's they appear effectivley identical in terms of what the spt see's and perceives. BB requires you to build the gimmick, Canvas is premade and include the blank gaff.
Also, I see the comments about needing a few feet of distance... but it sounds like either would work for table hopping where you get 3-4 feet of distance if you do this standing, chest height for seated spectators. I would think either would be a good opener? |
