Ben, it's a good idea. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I think I'm confusing myself, but it works when I slow it down. It just takes a bit more thinking.

Wolfgang, binary is not used and only two answers are needed to know the outcome .......... there is also a version where NO QUESTIONS are asked, which should be released in the near future.

But no questions can mean, "close your eyes", instead of verbaly saying "yes". It´s not a question, but the same purpose!
BUT I HOPE IT´S NOT LIKE THAT! |

Wow I really like this. So simple that one can focus completely on the presentation. Seeing that different magicians posted in the private facebook group I'm very impatient to join. I ordered through the mindfx site so please, please….

Anyone have any thoughts on using this in a family/kids strolling setting? I have done a few "which hand" effects for my own kids a bit and they seem to really like the premise. Just wondering if Tequila Hustler is something that can be presented in a playful way for a kids/family audience - or does it work better with a more serious or cerebral presentation?

Would this work well on an audience consisting primarily of college students majoring in statistics? Also, a few PhD professors (specailizing in logic) will also be in attendance.

Very weak and transparent one phase and very overrated regardless of how good a performer you are the method should still be solid this isn't IMO .

I know two top uk mentalists who have tried this several times and I have also tried it several times and it has failed them nearly everytime apart from the odd well below average intelectuel person or possible drunk person . It's so easy to back track and a very poor release which is surprising from Mark and also the initial early praise . One phase routine also lets it down .

Really?
because if you think about it, its NOT one phase...not really...from a presentational point of view, think about the finale, and work backwards...its NOT just a 50/50 thing...before the finale/reveal - there are several other things you apparently know...and that's part of the re-cap as far as I'm concerned... when you say "failed them" - what does that mean?

I personally don't agree with some of the hype and I definitely don't think it's the most amazing mentalism release of the year. But the booklet gives numerous presentations that work, are solid and if they fit someone's style, should provide good entertainment. If it ain't working, look within! That applies for these 2 supposedly top UK mentalists as well. Saying that it fails for them is a childish, facile and spurious claim that is laughable and sad, all at the same time. Let's debate this on method please, not silly schoolyard rubbish. |

I gather Tarik is a pro, or at least semi-pro. I daresay he has more performing experience than most on this board. I didn't see any "silly schoolyard rubbish", just an opinion, partly-formed by the experience of two other performers. FWIW, I was chatting last night to a friend who is a VERY busy performer who thought this would be brilliant for him. He is having trouble with it. He has once been directly busted, but he said he had seen that other spectators had sussed him without saying anything. He reckons that one reason that amateurs are busted more often is that our audiences are simply less polite. |

If you say they don't want to, then fine. If they don't like it, then again, fine. But I simply don't believe this claim that 2 of the top UK mentalists can't make it work for them. Many many performers are using it successfully, from amateur through semi pro up to full time pro. That's the schoolyard rubbish I'm talking about, his daft claim. If you believe him, fine. But I would welcome the opportunity to invite these 2 top mentalists onto here and let them explain for themselves how and why they are struggling with it, which of the many routines in the book they can't work with, and where and how they think it's going wrong. P.S. If (and I repeat if) Tarik and the 2 top UK mentalists have all bought this, read it once, and performed it cold without any lead in, conviction or follow up, with basic patter, then yes, they may have struggled. But I wouldn't then use their status to condemn the material, the fault lies elsewhere! |

I have used this numerous times on very clever people who are more than willing to call me out at the slightest opportunity with absolutely no problems at all. Yes at its heart it's a logic problem and so like any logic problem it could be backtracked if presented poorly without any credibility having already been established. However unlike many other variations of this methodology there are no questions that make you go hmmm. I find this very easy to mask and the final phase with the date throws them right off the scent.
Likewise I have a variation on Michael Murrays routine where you commit in writing whether they are lying or telling the truth after only one question. In fact I have two variations of Michaels routine that allow you to commit in writing after a single question. I find it extremely hard to believe that two of the UK's top mentalists were unable to pull this off. Mark |
