Lately there has been a ton of arguments in this forum specifically that detract from the useful information on the threads. I think this could be avoided if everyone would just ignore any insults they feel they have been given. Of course, just don't insult people would be better, but sometimes people feel insulted when that wasn't the intention. Can everyone do this so we can actually benefit from this forum?

There's going to ego issues when there's a low barrier to entry, unvetted claims of effectivity and ownership and an open market for information claimed as secret.

There's less to argue about when the topic becomes "does this work for you" or "what do I need to do to make this work"...instead of pleas for recognition and claims of novelty.

You can get a good read on what's happening in a video by turning the sound off and glancing at it momentarily while doing something else. where is the performer? Are they smiling? where are they looking? Is there a change their pace of action? Later on you can check what you saw against what you hear when listening to the performance while not watching. while watching with the sound on you can see where the pace shifts and smaller actions fit or mismatch. that's called congruence. Congruence also applies to writing.

Agreed with all. Between the ego, criticism, name calling, and apparently a long standing feud, this part of the forum has become a little tiresome.

Yes, good words that should really go for everyone on an open forum. And ego does play a big part, so should overall respect big, small and all. It's easy to look down on someone because they maybe don't have the bars & stars as others as insignificant, just as easy to overlook when an accomplished sort dismisses and belittles another. I've seen it both ways here and so have all of you, truth be told.

To wit...I recently watched folks applauding multi-billionaire presidential hopeful, Donald Trump mocking a physically challenged writer the other day. Guess it was alright because he's "The Donald" who knows best and with all sorts of medals on his chest, and the writer was no one of any real importance…And they laughed and laughed. Nice folks!

Anyway, discussion and debate are alright but insult is not, unfortunately it all depends upon the people on stage and the audience, it always does.

Zach, you are right, all these discussions should have been done, finished and closed many days ago, there are currently 5 threads or more that in a way or another talk about the Crimp, the book, feuds between a group of people with very long write ups and several videos, that now mean nothing, only irritate people left and right.

Using Al Schneider latest post, I will not have a beer with anyone, you are all underage children, regardless of your avatar pictures, it could be a nightmare of tantrums and spilled coins with coca-cola all over the table.

Come on guys let all these threads died peacefully and silently.

And as a courtesy to others, use the PM if you really need to square out some issues with another...i.e. keep them private!!!

Never have so few fought so hard over so little. These aren't issues of international or domestic terror. Get a grip (i.e. some perspective) all you super egos...you bore me!

Yah, the "tone" here has taken a huge backslide...caused mostly by those who should know better.

Well, it is a new ploy by an obviously old pest. Pretending that words like "pathetic" "rude" "punished" are not personal attacks. But, they are mostly amusing.

"Old man" is a compliment even if meant as a pejorative. Argument? Where? We are discussing the merits of various sleights/effects with slings and arrows from outside.

At least be accurate. I have never used "name calling" nor shouted. Are you on the right forum? Planet?

I only say here to watch the aliens land.

Anyone interested in magic around here?
