Hmmm, well, I guess about the same odds I gave you when you said Macgregor had a chance against Mayweather- zero.
I'll wait while you search for our wager you welched on. |

We will not hold our breath while will wait for you to prove your extraordinary claim. Put up or shut up.

$20 on Tommy...
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

Against zero not only can’t you win but he will also call you a welsh if you don’t take it.
Anyhow, it looks like that little weasel has put the cork which it took out of W. C. Fields lunch back in its mouth.

Put up or shut up.
The jury is still waiting for you to provide some evidence so that they can decide if I welched on a bet with you as you claim, or whether you are just a lying little weasel as we all know you to be.

I , and others here, recall your reaction , and your acceptance of those odds after you ridiculed me. I forgive you if you’ve forgotten, and if you’re honest, I’ll even forgive your tantrum here. I’m in a good mood. Now let’s get back on topic. |

What! That is so silly it is embarrassing!
I and others were simply pointing out that the odds you were offering meant we could not lose. A “Dutch Book” or “Lock” is a set of odds and bets which guarantees a profit, regardless of the outcome. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_book There was no wager I welched on; you are a liar and note there is no IMHO in that.

Very well, I shan't forgive you.
Now back to charity boxing. Who will donate money to see him get knocked out again? |

Marciano would have walked him down, caught Holmes and would have knocked him out. By your standards, Mike Tyson was too small to beat the bigger heavyweights, which we know is not true. |

Holmes lost one round before knocking out Shavers in the 11th. Muhammad Ali, who fought Foreman, Frazier, and Liston a total of 6 times, said Shavers was the hardest puncher he ever faced. He had over 20 pounds on Marciano.

He has one major advantage over Holmes, historically - he knew when to quit. He had his share of near-misses, but he was smart enough to get out - and stay out - when he was barely 32, thus preserving that mythical unbeaten record. But he made his reputation fighting old men, guys who were never any good, and guys who weighed under 190 pounds. He fought the best around, I'll give him that; but the best around in the early-mid 50s wasn't much. I'll take Ali over Holmes, though. But it's close.

Yes the thing with comparing boxers out of time is the exact thing Lobo is pointing out. Context matters to say the least.
You can't just look at an athlete's record, you have to look at the era in which they competed and against whom and what was happening at the time. The numbers become less important, not unimportant, but much less when context is added. As for Spinks/Holmes it seemed Spinks trained specifically hard for that didn't he? Packing on 15 extra pounds of muscle, working with the nutritionist, concentrating on medium sprints and the 5,000 good calorie a day diet for 90 days all made his condition A+. Holmes wad 35 wasn't he? Then Spinks lost to Tyson in a minute and a half and quit. So go figure. My father really disliked Ali. I always would find it tough to bet against him. Though as you said it is often close.
